Nate 10-05-2009 09:11 PM

If we're just predicting first round...

NL: St. Louis & Colorado
AL: New York & Boston... and ESPN's wet dream comes true...

HibachiDG 10-05-2009 11:57 PM

Dodgers and Philadelphia
NY and LAA

catman 10-06-2009 10:44 PM

Angels, Yankees, Cardinals, Rockies move on.

doublee 10-07-2009 09:39 AM

Is anyone else buying the idea that if the Twins knock off the Yankees it is the biggest upset in pro sports history?

catman 10-07-2009 11:36 AM

It won't be the biggest upset, but it would be big. It would spell the start of quite a frenzy in the Bronx. Wholesale changes would be made to the Yankees, starting with Cashman and Girardi.

Marc 10-07-2009 07:28 PM

Boston
NY
LAD
Philadelphia

Dodgers and Angels sweep their series.

catman 10-11-2009 10:55 PM

The Yankees close down the Dome for baseball. 4-1 tonight. They move on to play the Angels in the ALCS.

catman 10-13-2009 12:39 AM

Championship Series matchups are set.
ALCS -- Yankees v. Angels.
NLCS -- Phillies v. Dodgers.

HibachiDG 10-13-2009 07:25 AM

I'm going to go with Dodgers and Angels.

But, I'm not too confident about either. I think the Yankees are really good, just the Angels are a bit better. Phillies/Dodgers I think have been the best two teams in the NL all year, both kind of played down to their competition during the season, but are back to the NLCS for the second year in a row. I think Dodgers will have a bad taste in their mouth from last year, but the Phillies won't go down easy.

catman 10-13-2009 05:14 PM

I agree, Doug. The Dodgers have been too good this year to lose this series.
The Angels have quite a bit of motivation as well. They will say they are playing for Nick Adenhart, and possibly his memory is driving them, but they may have the better lineup and pitching. The only positons I would give the Yankees a clear advantage at are closer and 1B. Otherwise, its either a push (3B) or the Angels have the better player in place.

HibachiDG 10-14-2009 06:39 PM

I think I might revise my pick to go with the Phillies after seeing the Dodgers rotation...

Kershaw, Padilla, Kuroda, Wolf.

Yuck. I like Kershaw a ton, but after that...wow, that's not a playoff rotation right there. The Kuroda over Billingsley decision just seems weird. Billingsley has been awful down the stretch, but, I'd take my chances on him bouncing back rather than starting Kuroda. Billingsley has the potential to be elite, Kuroda is average at best.

Terrible decision making by Torre, who has been awful as a manager this year, as he has constantly sent out poor lineup cards.

catman 10-14-2009 09:28 PM

ESPN won't like the Angels/Dodgers matchup, will it.

Marc 10-16-2009 03:50 PM

Yanks/Angels tonight, Game 1 in 40-degree weather!

catman 10-17-2009 12:31 AM

Great weather for baseball. Why did the Yankees not put a retractable roof on their new stadium?

catman 10-26-2009 12:13 AM

The WS is set with the Yankees winning over the Angels tonight 5-2. Disappointing defensive game for the Angels, but the Yankees made the plays when they needed to.
Wednesday's starters will likely be CC Sabathia for the Yankees and Cliff Lee for the Phillies.

HibachiDG 10-26-2009 01:11 PM

This is the best World Series matchup in quite some time. The two best teams from their leagues all year and the defending champs against the team widely thought to be the best. I'd imagine this will get huge ratings.

The biggest edge in this series I think is the Phillies outfield. Pitching, infield and the bullpens all seem close, but Yankees getting the edge with the bullpen. But, the gap between OF/DH is huge in the Phillies favor.

As a Phillies fan, I hope that will be enough to win the Series.

Marc 10-26-2009 04:21 PM

I agree, Doug. I've been watching quite a bit of the CS and these are the two best teams for sure. I think this will go six or seven and be very competitive. The Yanks' don't have big power or stars in their OF, but I give them a good shot. Watching Mariano is so fun; it's witnessing greatness.

Yankees in 7.

catman 10-27-2009 01:53 AM

If the Phillies can take one of the 2 first games in New York, they can win the series.

Marc 10-29-2009 12:38 PM
