NHL Hockey Running Thread

I can't believe hockey's back! Yeah!

Watched the end of the Dallas/Colorado game last night - Very exciting! Stars were down 2-0 at the beginning of the third and scored two goals within a minute of each other. Then, won it in OT on a breakaway goal by Daryl Sydor!

My Bolts open the season tonight at Atlanta....here's hoping for a better season!!

I'm a Wild fan and like the acquisitions they have made this off-season. They are know as a defensive club, but may be turning things around a bit.
I go to see the USHL on occasion and will post a bit on each game I see this winter.

Glad to see the league back. Two great games last night between Buffalo/Carolina and Dallas/Colorado.

I'm a Kings fan, unfortunately, and it looks like we've got a long road ahead of us this season. But hopefully a good start can help us along. I know we've got St. Louis on Saturday.

Predicting the NHL is almost a farce, but with that said...

Eastern Conference Finals: New Jersey over Ottawa
Western Conference Finals: Anaheim over Detroit
Stanley Cup Finals: Anaheim over New Jersey in a rematch of 2003.

As much as I hate to say it, the Ducks (they finally dropped the "mighty") look like the best team, top-to-bottom, in the league.

Hey Catman, I am expecting a lot from your Wild this year. You guys got Demitra from us (Kings) in a trade and signed Mark Parrish as a free agent. With Fernandez finally as the clear #1 instead of sharing the goaltending duties with Roloson could help put the Wild over the top IMO.

Like #99 said our Kings are in transition and we are in a tough division so I don't expect a lot from the Kings. If we had not traded away Demitra I would at least give us a fighting chance.:redhot:

Bolts win the opener against the Thrashers 3-2 in SO!!!

Vinny wins the game with the shootout goal, & Denis looked strong after giving up two early goals in the 1st period. Good start to the season!

Blackhawks win a wild one over the Predators 8-6. Good to see 7 different Hawks score but Khabibulin spotty. He needs to erase last year but this effort isn't gonna go far to blur my memory much...

Last year was a disaster for me. Seeing Joe Thornton go really sucked! :redhot: I'm looking forward to a new season. :D
Lets go Bruins!

Tarkus 10-07-2006 11:50 PM

Hawks come back with 2 in the 3rd but fall short to the Blue Jackets 5-4...

Martin Havlat continues to shine, following up his 2 goal, 2 assist effort with a goal & an assist. This kid is somethin' else...

Still, too many penalties with 3 power play goals given up...

Hope this doesn't become a habit...

Let's go ISLANDERS!

#99 10-11-2006 02:38 PM

Kings bounce the Islanders 4-2 last night. Looks like even DiPietro's ridiculous 15-year contract couldn't stop the Isles from going on the penalty kill 10 times. Kings off to a 2-1 start with Dallas tomorrow night. Maybe there's hope for a good start, yet.

NY Jay 05 10-11-2006 03:40 PM

Islanders are off to a nice 0-3 start.

suedon1970 10-12-2006 08:44 AM

I know this is early in the season, but how unlikely is this?

3 for 27 on the power play so far this season just doesn't cut it......
