Shaq won't play til after break...

Shaquille O'Neal won't be in uniform for the final game before the All-Star break when the Suns take on Dallas this evening. Phoenix hopes to have Shaq in action after the break.

Is this a concern?

I don't think so. He'll be ready to go. I think the extended break will do his health good. Plus the Suns open up the 2nd half of the season vs. the Lakers on Tuesday. If that is Shaq's debut the ratings for that game are gonna be thru the roof.

(Stern currently on the phone with Shaq begging him to play vs. LA)

Another stupid trade.... is Shaq gonna play this season????? :D

Tarkus 02-15-2008 01:34 AM

Shaq being rested for a playoff push should make this a bit more interesting for the Suns. A lot different if this was at the beginning of the year & the wear & tear of a whole season aspect.

I still can't wait. I keep seeing Shaq being set up for tons of easy buckets by Nash. :P

boston_aloha 02-15-2008 01:42 AM

yeah, should be interesting. I think LA, SA,Mavs and Suns will make for a great west conf show down.

franco 02-15-2008 02:24 AM

shaq must be in his best so that the trade would be useful. if not his best but atleast must be better than his performance compared to as he was still a heat.

doublee 02-15-2008 01:50 PM

Too bad Kobe is now out indefinitely meaning without him and Bynum in the lineup the Lakers are probably going to go south fairly quickly and the Suns will probably roll the Lakers with or without Shaq in the lineup.

buckeyefan78 02-15-2008 02:59 PM

Kobe isn't out indefinitely from what I've read. He's gonna play thru the injury and claims he'll get surgery after the Olympics.

I say he'll do the first part...play thru it the rest of the way provided it doesn't break off. However, he'll probably opt for surgery when the Lakers are eliminated from the playoffs and not wait until after the Olympics.

let him rest. as old as he is, he's still better than most

doublee 02-15-2008 08:34 PM

I don't know how Kobe is going to be able to shoot well with that kind of an injury.

So you think the plan is to pretty much sit him, or limit his playing time so he's fresh for the playoffs?

What happened to Kobe (real quick)?

I am sure it probably is. That is what the Heat have done with him the past couple of years.

The Lakers announced Thursday that Bryant had been diagnosed with a complete tear of his radial collateral ligament and an avulsion fracture, in which a small fragment of bone had been pulled off by a tendon. The team said Bryant will try to play through the injury rather than have surgery, which could sideline him up to six weeks.

Well, he shot 3-13 the night he injured it against New Jersey. The next game he went 4-16. Then over the next 3 games he went 30-58 before he re-injured it against the Wolves.

He obviously wasn't bothered by it after the initial injury. We'll see how he goes after reaggravating it.

It's official: Shaq vs. Lakers tomorrow nite!

"The Lakers' Phil Jackson, O'Neal's former coach, said Shaq's role would be "taking the ball out of bounds and waiting for the other team to get back."

What does the Zen Master think he's doing with that one? No need to be poking the big Bear with a sharp stick...

Yeah, what is up with Phil?

Good game last night but not earth shattering. Shaq had his moments. Still, time is needed.

Gotta give the Lakers credit. Pau looks like he was born to play the triangle. Our guards can really hit the 3 and our bench has been gettin' it done all season long.

We'll see what happens come spring when the chips are down. Shaq has 2 months to get these guys mentally cuz as it stands now...the Lakers have their number.
