NBA Thought of the Day: November
Shaq might be able to carry a gun and make arrests in Cleveland: Shaquille O'Neal of Cleveland Cavaliers applies to be special deputy sheriff in Cuyahoga County, Ohio - ESPN

The Bobcats set a record by scoring 59 points in their season opener last night. I will not be shocked to see this team challenge the '72-'73 Sixers for fewest wins.

Nice win for the Bulls last night knocking off the Spurs in their season opener.

Barkley as a GM? Charles Barkley Wants to Be a GM -- NBA FanHouse

I don't like it. I don't know if he can censor himself enough to run a team.

doublee 10-31-2009 01:20 PM

I don't know Barkely cannot be any worse than Jordan has been in Charlotte. I cannot imagine he would be any more outspoken than Cuban is in Dallas. He would probably be good for a league that has been a bit stagnant in terms of interesting personalities the last few years.

Lakers did not even bother to show up against Dallas last night losing by 14 on their own floor.

I know I shouldn't entirely judge by just the first 2 games alone, but...the Pacers, may be in fact, horrible.

Marc 11-04-2009 05:31 PM

Carmelo is averaging some 37 ppg and is on blazing fire. He is looking like he'll challenge for the scoring title, and maybe MVP depending on how good the Nuggets are.

Anyone see the little tussle between CP3 and Rondo? I think there could be a budding rivalry between those two young PGs, though nobody (even me, a UK fan) can argue Rondo is better. But good to see him get a $55m extension from Boston. Boston looks like they will be a serious contender if they stay healthy.

The Pacers won their second in a row after losing their first 3. Hansbrough made his debut last night and looked good. Hope both of these continue...

doublee 11-09-2009 12:49 PM

I think Hansbrough is going to surprise a lot of folks. I kept reading over the summer how coaches, scouts, etc. said he was doing better than they ever thought he would at this level.

Not saying he is going to be the type of player he was in college but I think he is going to have a better career than folks thought he was going to.

The Pacers win again tonight, evening their record at 3-3. Danny Granger drops 31 points with 16 boards. I'd like to see his assist numbers go up, as he can get cold from the field sometimes. but he shot .500 tonight, so I guess I'll let it slide. lol. Hansbrough had another solid game: 11 points, 8 rebounds in 16 minutes. Would have liked to have seen what he could do without the 5 fouls...

Marc 11-12-2009 05:22 PM

Granger is like the Kings' Kevin Martin (before his injury); best scorer no one talks about. Amazing how these guys can score 30 ppg and get ignored. Playing on bad teams in small markets is the reason, really.

Celtics are 8-1 and looking like the 2007 team that won it all.

Nate 11-14-2009 09:19 AM

Tonight should be a good test for a Pacers team on a streak and seemingly finding their rhythm. It should be interesting to see how they play against the Celtics.

LeBron thinks all NBA players should retire the No. 23: LeBron James says players who wear No. 23 should give it up in deference to Michael Jordan - ESPN

If it hasn't been retired yet, I don't think it's necessary to start now. Not needed, as much as I respect His Airness...

Looks like Shaq is starting his annual mid-season games off: Shaquille O'Neal misses fourth straight game with Cleveland Cavaliers - ESPN

I've heard his wife is leaving him and there's trouble there, that may be involved.

doublee 11-22-2009 03:27 PM

Well they are 4-1 without Shaq and 6-3 with him. They seem to be playing a lot better since J. J. Hickson was inserted into the starting lineup.
