Busan, South Korea
Cape Town, South Africa
Detroit, Michigan
Delhi, India

No way Toronto will get it... their only shot was 2008 and they should've got it but didn't 'cuz of the corrupt IOC. Now the waterfront plan is long gone and there's no chance... plus Canada is hosting in 2010. NYC doesn't have a chance for 2012 so maybe an American city should get it on 2016 but given the scandals for their 1996 and 2002 games I think they should be banned for hosting it for a few days.

I mean decades

Butler, PA?

Even as a PA native I can't imagine the Olympics under any circumstance being held anywhere within the state.

"And here we are in beautiful Butler, Pennsylvania for the Olympics games."

Sounds comical.

I had the same thoughts. The only city I could possibly see doing it is Philly and even that would be a stretch to get it done. It would be a pretty good location you have NY just to the north and the DC area just to the south so they could draw a lot of people for it.

I have a hard time seeing Detroit getting any real consideration either.

How do you figure? From what I am hearing and reading, they seem to be the frontrunner.

I don't think an American city, especially Canada, will get the bid. Vancouver has the 2010 Olympics. I could see South American getting it's first Olympic Games ever in 2016.

Butler, Pennsylvania???

That's got to be a joke. I live about 30 miles from Butler and the people there look at Pittsburghers like they're foreigners. Just imagine what they'd think of a marathoner from Kenya.

What's the population, 20,000?

They can hold the baseball competition in Pullman Park (capacity: about 5,000), formerly the home of a New York Yankees minor league team.

The demonstration event would be buck hunting.

They're not. London is #1 right now for sure. As much as the IOC will deny it, they won't give it to 2 North American cities back-to-back, 2 years apart (Vancouver 2010)

MINNESOTA, BEH-BAY!

G-MenNMetsfan 11-30-2004 09:57 PM

Actually, Paris is number 1 for 2012

lmanchur. 11-30-2004 11:14 PM

Paris and London are gonna be neck-and-neck up till 2006 when the vote is held methinks.

I'm sure glad you dug up a 3-months-dead thread to drop that little pearl of wisdom on us, better expressed by about 4 people in the thread already.
