Is there a special way to put backspin on the ball???.. I mean, HOW is it done?? Can anyone describe it to me?

thanks.

Well, I am not sure scientifically how it is caused. But, I do get some backspin myself occasionally and there are two things I can tell you:

1. Clean Clubface - Make sure your club face or the face of your iron is clean. All the grooves pretty clean. The more the grooves get on it, the more spin it will have.

2. Hit it high - Trying to hit the ball high will sometimes produce a backspin or just a check up.

Go above for some science info on spin :).

When some friends were at Pinehurst they taught them this cool trick. NOTE: DO NOT TRY THIS WITH OTHERS AROUND. Here's what you do. In the bunker..line three balls up one in front of the other. Then hit the ball in the back as hard as you can (directly..not like a regular bunker shot) and the front and back balls will fly off somewhere else (if people are around they might hit them) and the middle ball should go up in the air..if it lands on the green you should see some AMAZING backspin..like 20 / 30 feet or sometimes 5- 10 ft.

I'll have to try that one out. ;)
