Getting a Blackberry.

My Kyocera Smartphone is not so smart anymore. I'm on my 3rd handset in two years and this one keeps crashing.

I went to my dealer and b!tched and I'm getting a FREE Blackberry on Monday :D

Blackberry 7250

Wondering if anyone here uses one?

doublee 07-14-2005 10:28 PM

I got mine already. :D I have had it for a couple of months now. It is pretty nice for getting my work e-mails on.

I'd love to have a Mac-compatible smartphone for e-mail ... anyone know of any? My Dad got a Blackberry for his job and even he, not exactly a tech geek, uses it a lot.

I use mine quite a bit too. Being the only IT guy in my office I know who may need my help when I am floating around the office helping others. Now, I don't have to walk back to the other side of the building to see who else is looking for me.

How bad off are you, as far as technology is concerned, when you only understand 60% of the words used in this thread?

Just wonderin'...:D

Aw, Buckeye just get one of your students to translate for you.

I have a niece who is 17 doublee. When forced to use these technological devices, she does the heavy lifting. When work forced me to use direct deposit (I fought them every step of the way), I asked her if "someone could use the dotcom machine and steal my check." She says no, but I don't trust it...LOL. They tried giving me a flat screen tv hooked up to the net to use for "educational purposes" (on a shared system within the school) and I turned them down. I still roll up my sleeves, pound the chalkboard with sloppy writing (and probably a few misspelled words...LOL) and talk to myself while grading papers in the dark after school.

Yep, I'm hopeless.

Dude, that line about "someone could use the dotcom machine and steal my check" sounds like something Homer Simpson would say. Except Homer would probably call it the dotcom dealie.

buckeyefan78 07-16-2005 01:12 AM

LOL...I always call it the dotcom machine. In an ironic twist, my old school ways have aided me in finding a hobby this summer (see, dinosaurs are needed). My brother (imagine me, but 5 years older, more senile, and more stubborn), who is a high school football coach, has me plotting his plays in his summer scrimmages because I'm the only one who knows how to do it the old fashion way with pencil and paper. Apparently his young assistant coaches were using the dotcom machine to do it and came up with all kinds of jargon that my brother (or I for that matter) don't understand. The young guys even typed up the schedule of events for practice on the computer. They give it to my brother and he proceeds to copy it on his clipboard in pen or write it on his forearm. He says when he sweats off an item of businees, that means it's time to move on to the next thing.

buckeye...

Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how exactly opposite I am from you. Anything new fascinates me and I love shedding old stuff for something that is more efficient or capable.

But one of my best friends is just like you; a little bit older, stubborn as all hell, and doesn't like change. There is something to be said for that though; he is always the same, dependable, reliable, predictable.

But back on topic, I will soon be purchasing the new Nokia N90 http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.h...nside,main_n90

I believe this is the perfect phone. Check it out.. not released yet, but I'll chime back in with a report as soon as I pick it up. Nothing short of jaw-dropping.

doublee 07-16-2005 10:17 AM

Man, that thing looks like a freakin' TransFormer.

Heathen 07-16-2005 07:03 PM

Heh. Well... nearly got it.... can't wait to get my hands on it.

As long as it makes and receives calls, has my "Hail to the Redskins" ringtone and my Diamondbacks wallpaper, I'm set. I had one of those Nokia Communicators with the keyboard inside about about 6 years ago and never used anything on it other than to make calls. lol

I find the features I use most on my cell phone are: taking pictures, taking video clips, playing games, and text messaging.

The reason the N90 stands out so much for me is the quality of pictures/video (2 megapixel/VHS with Carl Zeiss optics), the ability to use it easily as an audio/video phone (it's about time we got videophones!), the high resolution large screen, and FINALLY Nokia makes a freakin flip phone! (it's about damn time)
