Top 12 QBs 2004

We usually do this in November, but we missed it this time, and it seems like this is a topic many of us are discussing anyway. Let's put it out there in black and white.

Rules are the same as last year: List your Top 12 NFL quarterbacks right now. The guy has to have thrown at least half of his team's passes to be eligible. The only notable QB who doesn't qualify, that you might think would, is Steve McNair.

If you feel like "right now" needs clarification, check out the original link.

My Top 12:
1] Peyton Manning
2] Donovan McNabb
3] Daunte Culpepper
4] Tom Brady
5] Trent Green
6] Brett Favre
7] Jake Delhomme
8] Drew Brees
9] Ben Roethlisberger
10] Brian Griese
11] Chad Pennington
12] Michael Vick

I feel bad about leaving off guys like Byron Leftwich, Jeff Garcia, and Marc Bulger, so I'd like to observe that this is the Year of the Quarterback. We're getting very good play from an unusually large number of QBs.

Have fun. :)

1. Peyton Manning
2. Daunte Culpepper
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Drew Brees
5. Tom Brady
6. Brett Favre
7. Trent Green
8. Jake Delhomme
9. Chad Pennington
10. Byron Leftwich
11. Marc Bulger
12. Ben Roethlisberger

dirtywhiteboy 12-31-2004 07:58 AM

Garcia? Bulger?
Roethlisberger is on a 14-1 team, and gets a #12? Winning MUST NOT mean as much as statistics. Jake Delhomme? I'm a little confused here...

1) Peyton Manning
2) Tom Brady
3) McNabb
4) Culpepper
5) Big Ben
6) Drew Brees
7) Drew Bledsoe
8) Trent Green
9) Brett Farve
10) Chad Pennington
11) Byron Leftwich
12) David Carr

I realize that people are going to question Carr. But, he's really improved his game....despite his offensive line. I think he's improving ahead of schedule. Texas should make a serious run at the playoffs next year witha smart draft.
Bledsoe is a little higher than I normally would have liked to place him. But the Bills turn around has been great. Yes, Willis has had a lot to do with that, but hell, I just like Bledsoe.
And I have Big Ben higher than most likely will. The guy has done what Tommy Maddux couldn't. And I'm not so sure that his physical skills are THAT much better. Ben's played with the poise of a veteran, and displayed a real mind for the game.
Everyone else is close to "interchangable", outside of the front 5.

You might want to check out what will be posted on this thread a week or so after the regular season is over.

It should be interesting to see how the rankings come out.

How can you guys put Manning as #1? You got to be kidding me!

Vick is a much better QB, I'll even say Pepper is a better QB or even yet McNabb! You guys are nutts to put Manning first! I can't believe this, is this a Manning/Colt's forum? Every thread I look in Manning is always being talked about! Vick is so much faster than Manning and has a strong arm. Vicks rookie season...oppps I mean the first full year he played he had a better year than Manning!

And Pepper should be above Manning, I mean come on.

"NO QB IN NFL HISTORY has ever thrown for as many yards with as many touchdowns in the same season as Culpepper.
Including Manning"

I just don't see why Manning is #1 in everyone book!

Crazy!

your cue to laugh

Back to reality my list is put together by who I would have on my team.

Manning
Brady
Pepper
McNabb
Brees
Green

Just b/c your teams good doesn't nessicarily mean your good.
Drew Bledsoe is better than people think. I'm surprised to see Pennington so low and not one Aaron Brooks or Jake Plummer. WHERE IS MATT HASSLEBACK ON ANYONES LIST? That makes me think yall are just looking at each others lists and rescrambling

Come on MAN!

The question was "List your Top 12 NFL quarterbacks right now"

Is Brooks a top 12 when he throws it to the Defence every other play? Brooks might be good any other season, just not this one!

Plummer is ok but nothing real special yet so I went with Trent Green and what has Hassleback done for me lately? I don't see Brooks on your list!
