Are the Heat making a comeback?

Heat stay sizzling, beat down first-place Nets[email protected],00.htm

MIAMI - Alonzo Mourning rolled on his back, celebrating a blocked shot by pumping his fists and kicking his legs like a little kid before rising with a grin.

Basketball has become fun again for Mourning and the Miami Heat, who took another big step in their turnaround by beating the first-place New Jersey Nets 90-77 Saturday afternoon.

Miami, trying to recover from a 2-14 start, won for the seventh time in eight games and beat the Eastern Conference leaders for the first time in three tries.

"We can't wait any longer," Mourning said. "If we plan on making the playoffs, we've got to start playing well right now. We put ourselves in this position, and we have to get ourselves out of the hole we dug, one game at a time."
This is truly a great story for a team that was nearly dead-last in the NBA - they are thinking playoffs, and rightfully so. They are too talented to be as bad as they were. With Mourning, Jones, Grant, etc., it's good to see this team finally turn it around. I'm glad Riley stuck around.

I agree. They definitely weren't as bad as their record showed they were. They have tons of talent, with Mourning, Jones, and Grant. And some younger talent like Eddie House. Hopefully they get the Playoffs, but they might have some competition to get in from the Wiz.

I also agree. Jones, Mourning and Grant make a good combination on the floor and the Heat is warming up. :D
The playoffs should be their goal, although they're in for some competition.

Who would have thought that a team with a combo like that would start out so badly... I had to look twice yesterday when I saw they had won 7 of their last 8... Is anyone from that team gonna make the All-Star team?

I just hope that they don't take the Wizzards spot in the playoffs. :)

Rod Strickland has come alive, Zo is healthier, Eddie Jones is stepping up, and Kendall Gill is back on the court
