Biggest homer on the boards?

After reading through 33's latest post about the awesomeness of Auburn, I started wondering who the biggest homer is on this board. Who is the biggest supporter of their team, even going so far as to be delusional and irrational at times.

I don't know how to do the poll, so I'll just throw a few out for you to consider.

Purple - Vikings, Twins, Gophers, anything Minnesota...

Tiger - Auburn

Marc - Kentucky

Buckeye - Ohio State (or the big 10)

#47 (is he still here anymore?) - USC

Kornbix - Atlanta

Feel free to discuss or add your own.

This is a great question. It's real close between Tigereyes and Buckeye, but I would have to go with Tiger, 'cause at least he gives props to another conference/part of the country (PAC 10/West Coast). I'm sure it's happened, but I don't remember Tiger ever giving more than token praise to any program outside of Auburn or the SEC/South. In fact, he rarely contributes to threads beyond college football, where 99% of the time he's talking about Auburn, so yeah...gotta be him.

i think my name says it all, and i said the cubs will get beltran

buckeyefan78 11-23-2004 06:57 PM

I think you meant I give credit to the Pac Ten Kevin.

Anyway, I'd say it is a toss up between me and 33. I do give love to the Pac Ten, but don't forget I hate EVERYTHING to do with the South, not just the SEC.

I think "homering" can come about in two ways though...

1. Blindly following national media, which paint broad pictures of each region ( which I believe in my conspiracy laced mind is what mostly everyone does in life, including most on these boards).

2. Actually living and experiencing life by going outside your homering area and seeing what people really think of you ( when I say you, I mean where you come from).

Makes me wonder why you Kevin aren't more of a homer. If there's one place people love to dump on nearly as much as Youngstown, it's Akron. Could be an age thing too.

Maybe I'd qualify if I was a Cards fan. But that isnt ever going to happen!. lol

lmanchur. 11-23-2004 08:30 PM

If this place had CFL fans you'd know from CFL discussion I am HARD CORE about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. They're the only team I watch during the regular season... the rest I just follow... and the only team where I really get emotional... upset, angry, extreme joyous, etc.... depending on how they do.

For the others it's like "meh, maybe next time"... Not Bombers. Not CFL football.

Kornbix 11-23-2004 08:53 PM

My buddy MoutainDave. He gave too much for WVU and they just stunk it up. Maybe me I guess cuz I luv my teams

Oh man, I'm sorry Lee, I totally meant to include you in that. I can't believe I left you out. My bad.

Lee - anything Canadian.

gconnhokiebird 11-23-2004 11:16 PM

posting alot of crap about your team doesn't show how much you care for them. To know you have to witness someone when thier team is playing. I don't know about yall but I'm abosoulutly crazy when the hokies are in a tight game. Can't sit down, jump on the couch, bite my nails down too nothing, call other hokie fans to ***** about how we should be winning and how were blowing are season and much more. Just b/c someone actully talks about differnt teams and issues than "Their team" doesn't mean they don't care as much.

doublee 11-23-2004 11:28 PM

But, one qualification for being a 'homer' is that your team it is the best no matter what. It is not necessarily a matter of being an ardent supporter of your team, but being a supporter to the point that you are not willing to accept any flaws or crticisms about your team. Much like TigerEyes does with Auburn and the SEC or Buckeye and his love of everything Big Ten and basic hatred for anything else in college sports.

Haha, thanks Noon. :D I believe in 2 things: Canada, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers :D

KevinBeane 11-24-2004 09:05 AM

I second doublee's definition. A "Homer" is not a huge fan, a Homer is someone who is not objective about their own team....the less objective, the bigger the Homer.

HibachiDG 11-24-2004 10:30 AM

I'm a T.O. homer!

buckeyefan78 11-24-2004 11:08 AM

I disagree Kevin...

A "homer" to me is someone who studies all sides of the issue, using factual information and personal experience to draw conclusions, then decides that OVERALL ( because I do hate some things about OSU or the Big Ten) that " their way" is the best representation of the ideals he/she embraces. This in no way excludes the actions of your side that may be in poor taste.

I'm not blind to OSU's wrongdoings. I blasted Tres on here during the national title year like no one else. He and Geiger are two used car salesman, like I've said over and over. Their moral leadership is something I despise. I also have the Big Ten CURRENTLY ( cause it may change and it is close) as the #3 football conf.

Who thought this was a thread about the Simpsons when they saw it? I did
