French Open Prediction
Anyone have any French Open predictions, or maybe hopefuls?

I think that there are so many good players right now that it is a tough call for anyone. Well, at least for the men.

The women I think it will be won by someone in the top 10. Capriati, Venus, Henin, Clisters. Tough one again.

I would like to see Sampras and Hingis win, but that won't happen, well maybe in my dreams, no probably not their either.

Hehe, our favorites are exactly identical. When is the Open? Boy, it sneaked up on me this year.

I hope Roddick wins (besides Sampras) so Roddick can continue to establish himself as a tennis superstar. He still needs to break that barrier, IMO. On the women's site, I like Hingis, but my upset pick is Daniela Hantuchova!

The FO will be May 27th-June 9th.

That would be nuts to see Hantuchova win the FO!!! I would love it if she could pull it off. I wonder how she does on the clay...

Guga shall be victorious

Jennifer Capriati shall rule!

I am predicting that Capriati will fall before the quarters. I have no clue why, just my gut feel.

Look for both Williams in the semi's, only one advancing.

Henin will make it very far, she may have it in her to go all the way. We will see how that small frame holds up over 7 matches if she can make it. I assume she can.

Men, wow, I am liking Federer's chances, his game is just so sweet, he has every shot in the book and is such a natural player. But Guga is the man if he is ready to go. He needs to get into shape quick. If he makes it into week 2 look fo rhim in the finals!

I will be pulling for Capriati, but I believe Justine Henin will win.

The men..................Federer, but I will pull for Roddick. Well actually I would like to see Pete win the one slam he has not, but it wont happen.

U and me both #47. If Pete wins it would be a miracle. Of coarse he won on clay today. :)

To win a major, it is so grueling, like you mentioned in another post. I'm not sure Pete has it in him any longer to win 7 matches in a row, in such a short span. That on top of his least favorite surface. I don't think Kuerten is in shape enough at this time to make a run either. I always liked Marcelo Rios too, but his conditioning is not there either, he just hasn't played enough matches due to injuries the past year. Safin, I'm not sure he's ready mentally.......he loses it to easy and as you know, you need more patience and stamina on clay. Hewitt, I'm not sure his style will hold up over the long haul on clay. Agassi conditioning also questionable. Haas, I like him, wouldn't surprise me if he made the final.

I don't know if anybody but Capriati, the Williams sisters, Henin and Clijsters has a shot. I think its a field of 5 for the women.

tennis4you 05-23-2002 12:34 PM

I agree. Pete hasn't even won 7 matches in a row all year, I doubt he will do it on the clay in best of 5 sets. :)

I think Capriati will win(as i posted before). In the mens i beleive that federer will win.

George Soules has written a wonderful French Open men's preview, check it out:

The play at Roland Garros has begun! :)

Unfortunately, Pete Sampras' legendary clay-court woes haved continued on the opening day of the French Open. Sampras was ousted from the French Open on Monday, losing 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to Italian journeyman Andrea Gaudenzi in the first round of the only Grand Slam he's never won.

tennis4you 05-29-2002 11:13 AM

The FO trophy will never sit on Sampras' mantel and that is too bad.

More suprises: Henin falls, Federer falls. Both were major contenders!!!

Anna K falls, but no big surprise there!

Marc 05-29-2002 04:41 PM

The biggest downfall is I missed Anna's match. :( :D

There's a lot missing this year without Hingis, gives me less reason to watch with keen interest. Is it just me or have the Williams Sisters act grown old fast? They don't really make me want to watch tennis, the appeal has faded.
