What's with this board?

Did everyone go to another site or did they just -----> leave?

This is very disturbing.

Thanks!

Marc 06-09-2017 03:50 PM

I'll NEVER leave as long as I pay the bills to keep the lights on!

https://www.sports-central.org main site is going along great.

Hello, Marc, buck.

Good to see you both!

Marc, I like Brad's "All-Name Teams."

Pretty clever and interesting.

Marc 06-16-2017 12:11 PM

My question is what compelled buckeye to post? Does he check this site periodically? Just coincidence? Hmmmm.

Jack Knoff 06-17-2017 03:16 AM

Where's Rob?

Or should I call him -----> Ellis?

Jack Knoff 06-18-2017 06:06 AM

Btw...

SPORTS
CENTRAL

SINCE 1998

We're approaching the 20th anniversary.

Stunning!

Tip of the cap to you, Marc.

Are we going to party like it's -----> 1999?

ha

Marc 06-18-2017 10:19 AM

Mighty kind of you, Jack! I started this as a 7th grader and now am 31 with a newborn son.

catman 06-22-2017 09:19 AM

Congratulations on the son, Marc.
Life has changed a bit for me since this board started. I have retired from a state job, lost my wife to cancer, taken a part-time job, become mayor of my little town, started going out with a lady I've known for 50 years (who my daughter likes, by the way), and worked with many different organizations to help in my local area.

Marc 06-25-2017 09:11 PM

Good to hear from you, catman!

I honestly just think message boards are a thing of the past, thanks to social media.

Jack Knoff 06-29-2017 08:24 AM

Cat, I grew up not far from central Iowa.
Just over the Mississippi River, in Illinois.

Marc, you're probably right.
I notice that back in the day people put more effort into message board posts, too.

Because of Twatter (and other social media), people have now been trained to express themselves in 140 characters or less.

Much of the art of message boarding is gone.

People don't have the patience for it, and they don't put much effort into it.

I love ya Marc. Haven't talked to you in a few years and we jump right back into Tom & Jerry mode.

Seriously though, congrats on the son. :)

catman...

Sorry for the loss of your wife. Glad you've found company though.

Jack...

Thanks for the post spurring the semi-reunion.

I think message boards are toast too. The other two Ohio State boards I visited closed down.

I joined Facebook this year. Younger family and friends forced me to do so saying that's how they keep everyone up to date on what's going on.

And yes, I hate it. :D

catman 07-10-2017 03:57 PM

By the way, I've also become a grandfather twice.

I'm sorry I missed your appearance here -- 3 months ago, Ellis.

I hope you're well.

Tarkus 01-27-2018 11:03 AM

Like catchin' up with the gang that went behind the barn for a quick smoke...:P

Congrats on the son, Marc... & props for the SC stamina.

Sorry for your loss, Cat, but very cool on all the new changes.

Ellis... :P Perfect post

Jack ;) Ever the SC Statesman. Good to see you...

Buck... Great to see you've continued your Houdini act in avoiding life's pitfalls.

P.S & don't worry, I'll never turn state's evidence no matter what deal they offer. ;)

What's going on guys? I'm new here and I'm excited to once again be apart of a great sports community.

Greetings, folks. Been awhile for me as well.

After working at my college's newspaper as a writer and eventually the sports editor, I graduated from Pitt in 2010. I had a hard time finding the journalism job that felt right, so I went back a year later to get my master's degree in teaching. I'm currently in my seventh year of teaching in PA and loving every minute of it.

And since family seems to be a talking point, I got married in 2014 and have a kid on the way.

Life's been alright, I must say.

I'm glad to see some familiar names and faces when I stumbled upon this post.

Good to hear from you! We've all grown up and had kids, it seems... what compelled you to check on this board?

Is it completely dead or what?

Not now that you're here!

Sowson 04-01-2019 12:57 PM

By the way Marc, don't you think it's a good time to recover?
