If anyone wishes to open a thread discussing the individual awards, that would be fine with me.

Good for Brandon Webb. I am glad to see his last start of the year didn't effect the voting. Well deserved imo, but then I am bias on this one having seen him pitch several times this year.

Just goes to show you can win a major award by only playing well for half a season....

Managers of the Year were announced today. Apparently Joe Girardi's performance impressed the voters more than his own team's ownership. Here is the story on his award: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=mlb
To no one's surprise, Jim Leyland won in the AL: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...=.jsp&c_id=mlb

You have to be kidding, if you're talking about Webb. His ERA was under 3.00 for most of the year up until the last game where the Padres got 6 earned runs off him.

Don't forget that Ryan Howard was NL ROY and played just a bit more than half a season. He's turned out pretty well. I think with proper support and a bit tighter defense, Webb will only improve from here.

Today, MLB announces the AL Cy Young award. Any bets who it'll be?

LA sports 11-16-2006 02:46 PM

The competition was pretty thin for NL Cy Young. 16-8 with ERA over 3.00 was good enough. It was a good year for Webb though when he did not have a lot of support.

That Greg Maddux is amazing.

The AL Cy Young award went to Johan Santana, unanimously. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6177346?FSO1&ATT=HMA
