Playoffs -- Post Your Predictions Here
LAA v. Boston
NY v. Minnesota/Detroit LAD v. St Louis Colorado V. Philadelphia Who wins the first round series? |
If we're just predicting first round...
NL: St. Louis & Colorado AL: New York & Boston... and ESPN's wet dream comes true... |
Dodgers and Philadelphia
NY and LAA |
Angels, Yankees, Cardinals, Rockies move on.
|
Is anyone else buying the idea that if the Twins knock off the Yankees it is the biggest upset in pro sports history?
|
It won't be the biggest upset, but it would be big. It would spell the start of quite a frenzy in the Bronx. Wholesale changes would be made to the Yankees, starting with Cashman and Girardi.
|
Boston
NY LAD Philadelphia |
Dodgers and Angels sweep their series.
|
The Yankees close down the Dome for baseball. 4-1 tonight. They move on to play the Angels in the ALCS.
|
Championship Series matchups are set.
ALCS -- Yankees v. Angels. NLCS -- Phillies v. Dodgers. |
I'm going to go with Dodgers and Angels.
But, I'm not too confident about either. I think the Yankees are really good, just the Angels are a bit better. Phillies/Dodgers I think have been the best two teams in the NL all year, both kind of played down to their competition during the season, but are back to the NLCS for the second year in a row. I think Dodgers will have a bad taste in their mouth from last year, but the Phillies won't go down easy. |
I agree, Doug. The Dodgers have been too good this year to lose this series.
The Angels have quite a bit of motivation as well. They will say they are playing for Nick Adenhart, and possibly his memory is driving them, but they may have the better lineup and pitching. The only positons I would give the Yankees a clear advantage at are closer and 1B. Otherwise, its either a push (3B) or the Angels have the better player in place. |
I think I might revise my pick to go with the Phillies after seeing the Dodgers rotation...
Kershaw, Padilla, Kuroda, Wolf. Yuck. I like Kershaw a ton, but after that...wow, that's not a playoff rotation right there. The Kuroda over Billingsley decision just seems weird. Billingsley has been awful down the stretch, but, I'd take my chances on him bouncing back rather than starting Kuroda. Billingsley has the potential to be elite, Kuroda is average at best. Terrible decision making by Torre, who has been awful as a manager this year, as he has constantly sent out poor lineup cards. |
ESPN won't like the Angels/Dodgers matchup, will it.
|
Yanks/Angels tonight, Game 1 in 40-degree weather!
