Pitino center of firestorm...

This is ugly. Pitino admitted to having an affair six years ago, paying for an abortion, and then she tried to extort him for money. Despite this, Louisville is tolerating it and standing by Pitino: James Ramsey, Louisville president: Rick Pitino remains 'our guy' - ESPN

Does Pitino deserve to keep his job? He deserves a lot of blame, but at the end of the day, the only thing he is guilty of is being unfaithful to his wife.

He should keep his job. He didn't do anything illegal and we do not know about the dynamics of his marriage.

I am curious to see if it hurts recruiting at all or not. I know recruits themselves could probably care less but what about the parents of these kids who are helping them make the decision where to go?

It's not like he was in politics and this will just demolish his career. Although I'm pretty sure the Oakland Zoo is going to have fun with this.

True but he is a face, if not the face, of a major university which is not that far off from being a politician. Universities fire people all the time for doing things that make them look bad in the community. Pitino is in a very influential position within the university and the community and he probably is lucky to still have a job. Honestly, one cannot help but wonder if he is still the head coach were he not coming off back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in the tournament. Is he still there if this is 2006 and he is coming off a NIT appearance?

He'll keep his job, but his reputation is marred. And he's making Calipari look like the good guy in the state of KY. No matter what, the UK/UL rivalry is going to rival UNC/Duke in the college hoops world, and I for one can't wait...

This is the most talked-about abortion since the one Diane Keaton got (off-screen) in The Godfather: Part 2.

And that's not an idle comparison, been as the mistress is now saying that Pitino threatened to put her family in concrete if she didn't get the abortion.

Bada-bing!

Then former UK coach Gillispie was arrested for DUI near Lexington. Combined with Calipari's Memphis scandal, it's been a bad offseason for coaches in the Bluegrass!

I am curious as to what Pitino was hoping to accomplish by attacking the media the other day. They can only make things worse for him if he gets on their bad side. He needs to remember that the sports media in Kentucky has nothing else to do other than cover college sports.
