Best Regular Season Games This Year

With Week 17 this Sunday and the new year, it seems appropriate to do this thread.

Number 1 for me would have to be the SD-IND game last week, great comeback, a once unachievable record broken, and two very good teams as well.

Next I would have to say the Sunday Night game between the Jags and Steelers in Week 13. A physical game with two hard-hitting defenses and a game decided by a game winning drive from Big Ben.

The last in my list has to be the early-season game between Seattle and St. Louis in Week 5. Seattle looked like they were well on their way to 4-0, up by 17, only to collapse and be beaten in OT by a Bulger pass. That collapse also sent Seattle spiraling to a point where they never really recovered from the high level that they had been playing at.

Other games that were also very good were Dallas-Seattle in Week 13, Miami shocking New England in Week 15 and both Green Bay-Minnesota games.

Those 2 of mentioned were good, the Panthers at ATL one was good and I am not just saying that because you know what, both packers-vikings games were good. There were a lot of good games this season. it was fun to watch.

Yes, I liked the Chargers vs Colts. But, I'd (again, ug) have to agree with Kornbix. That Green Bay vs Vikes game that decided the NFC North title was a fine game.

i like the Steelers vs Jags game on sunday night football that time...it was a good game

Christmas Eve Green Bay vs Minnesota

Green Bay at Indianapolis...Manning vs. Favre in a complete shootout.

OMG!

Is football really coming to an end!

This is why the NFL needs to make preseason 2 weeks or 3 and give us another week or 2 of the regular season.

If the NCAA does not need a preseason neither does the NFL, are they not pros? No one really watches the first few preseason games if you are lucky enough to have the game on the air, infact the last PAT's preseason game that sat ALL the starters!

Man this is sad, week 17 and a handful will sit their starters so who cares!

But back to the question, besides the games that I hit the jackpot on with mybookie, I would have to say Chargers Vs Colt's.

I guess I will give the Steelers beating the Pat's a shout as well

The lack of a 'preseason' is why college teams usually schedule Northeast Louisiana Barber College for their opening game of the year. College teams may not have preseason games but most of them schedule cupcakes for the season opener where the third team is in the game by the start of the fourth quarter.

As for the best game of the year that would have to be either Philly/Green Bay or the first Philly/Dallas game wouldn't it? :D

Seriously though I loved the Steeler/Jags game a good old fashioned slobberknocker.

The Cowboys/Seahawks game had my butt dragging at work the next day. I did not regret staying up for the finish though.

Another good one nobody has mentioned yet was the Oakland/Denver game played on Nov. 28 in the snow in Denver that saw Oakland come back from an 11 point 4th quarter deficit to win 25-24 scoring the final TD with a little under two minutes to go in the game. It also featured Oakland blocking Elam's 43 yard FG attempt with 17 seconds to go.

That is sort of changing man, that is why Aburn is sitting out! They are starting to realize if they play U. of no one they wont be ranked very high and at the end of the year it will bit them in the A double S.

No, teams are still going to schedule the cream puffs at the beginning of the year just not as many as in the past. Auburn is sitting out because they scheduled all worthless teams on its schedule this year. But, look at the other teams almost all of them had a soft game as either the first or second game of the year.

The big difference is OU lucked out and Bowling Green turned into a quality win for them. When they scheduled BG they were still a middling MAC team but now they are a quality opponent. Houston has not been consistently good since the run-and-shoot days of Andre Ware and David Klingler.

Bowling Green, Houston, and Oregon is a lot better combo than La-Monroe, La Tech, and The Citadel.

Kornbix 01-01-2005 01:43 AM

Oklahoma's schudule is easy as hell, and that's all their is to it.

coachJ 01-01-2005 06:10 AM

which is why the Big 12 is leading the conferences in wins in the Bowl games?

Kornbix 01-01-2005 02:42 PM

Yeah because they cruise through the year with easy games
