Cool Anthony's Conference Championship Picks

7

Last week: 3-1. Season totals: 5-3, Pct. .625. Best Bets: 2-0, Pct. 1.000.

Home team in capital letters; point spreads (opening line) in parentheses after underdog team; selections with point spreads in bold.

SUNDAY

CHICAGO 24, New Orleans 17 (+3) - Don't expect 208 yards rushing from the Saints again this week, as they're facing a much bigger, much stronger, much more physical, and much more talented defense here; and while they have actually won three of their last four at Chicago, none of those four games was played on a date later than October 8 and the kickoff-time temperature for this one is projected to be in the low 30s. Look for Rex Grossman to be more relaxed after getting off the postseason schneid last Sunday, and one of the biggest mismatches in Super Bowl history will be mercifully avoided as what was clearly the best team in the NFC this year will get to represent that supremely-outgunned conference at The Pigeon-Toed Orange Bowl on February 4.

New England 14 (+3), INDIANAPOLIS 3 - The Patriots are 14-1 against the spread in their last 15 games at Indianapolis, but they'll win for other, better reasons than that: They have Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, while the Colts have Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy. What else do I have to say?

BEST BET: NEW ENGLAND
