Emmitt was at the end of his career though. Edge is going there still in good shape and able to be an every down back.

I know! I was dying when I read that  Just once I'd like to hear an athlete tell the truth... "Yeah, I know Arizona sux, the players suck.. but I wanted to get paid! I'm not getting any younger, I'm never gonna win a SB, so why not cash in on my final years in the NFL..."

But remember one thing: If the Super Bowl Runner-Up Jinx does take the Seahawks out (and if the Eagles couldn't break it last year...), somebody is going to have to pick up the pieces in the NFC West - and since the 49ers are still a long way off from even respectability, that leaves either the Rams or the Cardinals.

And when I woke up this evening I found out that the Titans signed David Givens - so that almost certainly means that the Eagles will do absolutely nothing this off-season to upgrade a receiving corps that is far and away the worst in the NFL.

The Titans must want to stay ahead of Houston real badly!

And speaking of Houston, check this out:

The Eagles have reportedly signed former Texans WR Jabar Gaffney, who couldn't even manage 9 yards per catch in 2005.

What are they thinking?

Sure, but he did average 15.4 yards a catch the year before. How much of that is a result of playing in an offense where the QB didn't know if he was coming or going half of the time last year? Andre Johnson was rather subpar as well with the Texans last season.

Granted, I don't think he is the ultimate solution but they are making a minimal investment in the guy and he does give them a wideout with a bit of size and strength.

According to this source anyway, Gaffney "just doesn't have NFL speed."

When will they ever learn - when McNabb gets "Theismannized" by a blitzing linebacker?

The Jets have just purchased some cheap insurance in the event that Chad Pennington's career is over - they acquired QB Patrick Ramsey from the Redskins.

The price? A sixth-round draft choice.

The Jets are also trying to pry Matt Schaub loose from the Falcons. I believe they are asking for Schaub and a draft pick in return for John Abraham.

I don't think they're looking to get Schaub anymore now that they have Ramsey.

I don't know I think they still might be. Ramsey is insurance against Pennington not making it back, but I think the Jets have an eye on handing the offense over to Schaub if they can get him whether Pennington makes it back or not. Supposedly there are four or five teams lining up at Rich McKay's door wanting a crack at him.
