According to a Virginian newspaper, Marcus will make himself available to the draft. He is eligible; his other choices were to transfer to another I-A college and sit out a year, transfer to a I-AA school and play immediately or play professional football (Arena, Canadian, NFL Europe, etc.).

A timeline of Marcus Vick's troubles since he enrolled at Virginia Tech in 2002:

Sept. 2, 2003

Suspended for one game by coach Frank Beamer for undisclosed reason.

Feb. 17, 2004

Arrested without incident and charged with four misdemeanors -- three for allegedly allowing the underage girls to have alcohol and one for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old at a January party. Released on $2,500 bond.

May 14, 2004

Convicted of three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $2,250. Found innocent of having sex with the 15-year-old.

July 3, 2004

Charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop about 25 miles east of Richmond at 2:30 a.m. Police said he was clocked at 86 mph, 21 mph above the speed limit, and that the vehicle stunk of marijuana.

July 6, 2004

Indefinitely suspended from football team for off-field problems.

Aug. 3, 2004

Suspended from the university for the 2004 season on same day he pleads guilty to reckless driving and no contest to marijuana possession in New Kent. Is fined $300, has driver's license suspended for 60 days and is placed in a first offender program on the marijuana charge, requiring that he perform 24 hours of community service, undergo drug counseling and random drug tests, and give up his driver's license for six months.

Sept. 13, 2004

In plea deal, pleads no contest to one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Receives 30-day suspended jail sentence, is fined $100, ordered to perform 24 hours of community service and stay away from the teenage girls.

Jan. 17, 2005

Cleared to rejoin football team and re-enroll at Virginia Tech.

Oct. 1, 2005

Leads No. 3 Hokies to 34-20 victory at West Virginia, and makes obscene gesture to fans who have been calling him names related to past problems throughout the game. He apologized a day later.

Dec. 17, 2005

Pulled over by police in Hampton for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone and driving with a suspended license.

Jan. 2, 2006

Leads Virginia Tech to a 35-24 win over Louisville in Gator Bowl. In the game, he stomped on the left calf of Cardinals All-American defensive end Elvis Dumervil, the NCAA sacks leader. Claims the incident was accidental and that he apologized to Dumervil, who denies ever receiving apology.

Jan 6, 2006

Is kicked off team at Virginia Tech for legal trouble and unsportsmanlike conduct in Gator Bowl.

Was just watching Sportscenter, and they showed during that game he elbowed a WVU Asst. Coach in the back of the head on the sidelines after a play & it looked 100% intentional, which was why the fans were giving him the business. What a scumbag!:redhot:

God I hope no team in the NFL gives him a chance. If the Bucs do, I will boycott them until they get rid of him.......

I can see it now: Vince McMahon is going to get Marcus Vick to sign up with the WWE!

And Vick's entrance song? Why the Dovells' Bristol Stomp, of course!

If someone is willing to take a shot with Maurice Clarrett, you know Vick will sign on somewhere once training camps open. But I seriously doubt that someone will actually use a draft pick on him.

There was an article in the local paper here today quoting an anonymous NFL GM saying that Vick will be a mid-to-late round pick if he gets taken at all. He just has way too much baggage to invest a pick in the upper half of the draft on him.

Of interest to me will be to see what position the NFL chooses for him to play. Guy with his history doesn't seem quite stable enough to play QB. Is too physically gifted not to at least try out at other positions.

He also really does not have the size that NFL teams look for in QBs and he is not nearly as athletically gifted as his brother his to make up for his lack of size. He did play some reciever his freshman year when they still had Randall and Beamer wanted to get his speed on the field.

I could envision him being a return specialist/emergency QB.

This loser just got arrested on fire-arm charges... Raiders should draft him and sign Clarrett... what a one, two punch!!
But seriously, willl he get drafted? If so, by whom? Who would take that baggage? I know the Eagles won't!

no way Vick gets drafted. he's too small to play QB and in no way has a thread of leadership ability in his body. his only chance was a wide reciever but he'll have to beg his way onto an Arena Football or Canadian Football team and play there for a season or two while keeping a clean record before the NFL even thinks about this wack job.

I'm in complete agreement with blackdog, and said as much in the NFL thread where this came up.

Whoever suggested he would simply become a member of his brother's entourage looks like he was right on at this point.

Marcus shoots up the chart, past Ron Artest and Terrell Owens. Vick's in a whole new stratosphere, trying to become the next Lawrence Philips.
