Default McNair retires, Hall of Famer?

McNair retires: 'Physically, I couldn't do it anymore'

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Steve McNair intended to complete the final three years of his contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He worked hard during the offseason and arrived at minicamp ready to assume his role as the starting quarterback.

His body had other plans.

McNair announced his retirement Thursday, ending a 13-year career in which he was selected co-MVP, led the Tennessee Titans to the Super Bowl and orchestrated the most successful regular season in the Ravens history. He received a standing ovation from his teammates after revealing his decision, then contained his emotions during a hastily arranged news conference.

He was a really good player who is on the fringe of the HOF, IMO. What do you all think?

Close, but not quite. It certainly won't help to possibly be in the same HOF class as Brett Favre, Warren Sapp, John Lynch, and Michael Strahan

No, guys with career numbers like McNair's need a couple of rings to warrant consideration.

No chance. He isn't a HOF'er.

Definitely an upper tier QB with some great games but not enough to go to the HoF.

With the Bengals' locker room starting to resemble that of the Eagles three years ago, and now this, the AFC North figures to really get their heads handed to them by the AFC South and the NFC East this fall.

Short answer: No.

But, given some of the relatively average players in the Hall,
maybe the committee will be dumb enough to put him in.

But, I would bet those relatively average players also own multiple Super Bowl rings.

Yeah I have to agree with everyone else. Had Super Bowl 34 gone differently he would be a Hall of Famer, but they couldn't get that extra yard.

To think, a QB who passed for over 13,000 yards, and one yard is keeping McNair out of Canton.
