Default Romo Out 4 Weeks???

Romo 'down' after suffering broken pinkie in Cowboys' OT loss

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a broken finger on his throwing hand and could be out for up to four weeks.

Romo, who had started 30 straight regular-season games since replacing Drew Bledsoe in 2006, broke his right pinkie on the first play of overtime in a 30-24 loss at Arizona on Sunday.

"We don't know how long he'll be out. It depends on how fast that heals," coach Wade Phillips said Monday. "I'd say week to week, depending on quickly he heals. Different people heal differently."

There was some kind of Kitna to the Cowboys rumor floated to me by a bunch of friends that are Lions fans...

...but that has got to be wishful thinking. Not sure the Cowboys want Kitna for 4 weeks when Kitna is a bit banged up himself.

Hell Brad Johnson won the Super Bowl for the Bucs. I'd stay with him.

Ha. Terrell Owens is not going to be too pleased with Brad Johnson. I don't think he's vertical enough for TO. They might have to bring in Culpepper just to avoid a TO meltdown.

Not only Romo, but Matt McBriar is out for the season with a broken foot.

Felix Jones is going to miss time too with a hamstring injury. The next month doesnt look so great for the Cowboys. My guess is you're going to see a HEAVY dose of Marion Barber.

Looks like Kitna may be headed to IR anyway:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3642616

By the time Kitna got comfortable with the offense and his new teammates Romo will be back anyway so what would be the point of bringing him in unless you are looking for a vet to back up Johnson in case he goes down? It is not like Romo is potentially out for the rest of the year. I do not see a need to go out and grab another QB.

Besides, it is not as though the 'Boys are winning a Super Bowl as long as Phillips is the head coach to begin with.

This pretty much guarantees Wade Phillips' firing as Cowboys coach. Jason Garrett has been groomed for this. Having a good season is as much about luck as talent it seems. Both NFC frontrunners, the Cowboys and Packers, are suffering bad injury blows. If the Cowboys can go 2-2 without Romo, they'll still have a chance at the playoffs, but it's not going to be the joy ride it seemed like in September.

The good thing is that they get the Rams this weekend. Although after the way they handled the Redskins, as a Cowboys fan we can only hope they revert back to their Linehan days

What a week this was for Eagles fans: They win, the Giants, Redskins and Cowboys all lose (not only that, but Dallas also loses Tony Romo and two of their Joneses - Pac-Man and Felix), plus the Panthers, whose first-round pick in 2009 belongs to the Eagles (and were 4-1), also lose.

And the Eagles should have Brian Westbrook, Shawn Andrews, Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis back after the bye week - a role in which Andy Reid has never lost.

I don't think firing Phillips fixes everything though. Everyone knew he was a lame duck coach when they hired him simply because Garrett was not ready to begin with. I think this team has some issues with its character and heart. Romo seems to wilt under pressure. When games get tight they commit scads of penalties like they did against the Cards this past weekend. When things start going bad TO pouts and complains about not getting the ball enough.

The thing is Jerry Jones ultimately believes he can build a Super Bowl winner by acquiring the most talent via free agency and the Redskins have shown us how difficult that can be. It is interesting to see how much success they have had thus far in a season where they made very few moves in terms of acquiring free agent talent this past summer.

I think getting Andrews back is huge for them, he is a big reason the running game has floundered a bit this year.

But will their short-yardage/goal-line offense improve when Andrews does get back?

Eagles release Tony Hunt

David Akers made a 19-yard field goal in the San Francisco game; how many more of those will he be called upon to make the rest of the season?

I'd say, a lot of them.

After talking with Favre, surprise, Romo is going to try and play. Interesting...

I say he'll try, but he won't be able to go very far.

Shouldn't the Cowboys be able to beat the Rams without Romo anyway?
