Thanks for the link, catman. It's nice to be able to sort these and look through them however you want.

Default Jarrod Washburn

Hard to believe baseball has started and he is still unsigned. When the Tigers picked him up last year, it was thought they had the best staff. It will be interesting to see if the Royals or Mariners pick him up.

Washburn turned down a very good offer from the Twins in January. He won't get $5M from anyone else.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this year's free agent class considered extremely weak?

As for Jarrod Washburn, I think he'll end up in KC, he should have taken the Twins deal, it was the best offer he is going to get.

Yes it was considered pretty weak. I find it hilarious that the union is thinking of filing a colusion grievance because none of the teams really spent a lot of money on free agents this off season. If the owners were colluding then there is no way on Earth a guy like John Lackey gets the kind of deal he got from the Sox.

The talent pool was very weak. Matt Holliday was the only real impact hitter on the market and Jason Bay is really just a .270 power hitter and he ended up with a pretty fair market deal.

But the money guys got is what happens when teams like the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs are not overly active on the free agent market. There were no major market teams in the mix to drive up the dollar amounts this past winter.

May I point out as of yesterday John Lackey is earning that deal that was a great game, (unfortunately the Sox lost) he pitched really well. But no he didn't deserve the kind of deal he got.
