Default What an accomplishment for Atlanta!

Braves to Have Sellout Against the Cubs
Associated Press

ATLANTA - Here's a change: The Atlanta Braves will have sellout crowds at Turner Field for the first two games of their playoff series against the Chicago Cubs.
Of course, there were a bunch of Cubs' fans filling the seats.
"Our fans are everywhere," Chicago manager Dusty Baker said before the best-of-five series opened Tuesday night. "Any tickets that haven't been sold, I hope they show up in droves and buy the rest of them."
The Braves have failed to sell out at least 15 postseason games since moving to Turner Field in 1997. This year, they benefited from playing the Cubs, which led to a more favorable television schedule.
Hoping to cash in on Chicago's popularity and surprising success, TV executives scheduled the first two games in prime time, which made it easier for Atlanta fans to attend after work.
Atlanta hasn't sold out any postseason games the last two years, but demand was so strong that 3,000 standing-room tickets were put on sale for each of the first two games.
"I've been asked all week why they don't sell out here," said Cubs reliever Mike Remlinger, who pitched for the Braves from 1999-02. "As a player, it was frustrating. But the fans we had were great fans."
The Cubs set an attendance record this season, though Remlinger wonders how Chicago's fans would react to a prolonged period of success.
"If we won the division 12 years in a row, would we still get a sellout in the first round?" he said. "I'd like to find out."

Hey, congratulations to the City of Atlanta for selling out a playoff game.

Are ALDS games boring for the Braves fans? If this is the case, perhaps they should disqualify themselves.
Seriously, its nice to have full houses for all playoff games. The players do better in front of more people.

I believe Atlanta had sold 52,700 tickets for game two-700 more than the night before.

I think the sellout is due to the fact that 30 percent of the stadium was cubs fans.

For once I agree with Edgar. Had they played the Astros I bet they wouldn't have sold out. I know everyone will hate me for saying this but at least the Yankees pack the house for LDS games. Even a day ALDS game will sell out in the Bronx.

Would have been nice if the Astros would of made it. It's nice to see the fans into the games though. Wrigley Field is going to be packed when the Cubs go home.

See, Cubs make good things happen.

GO CUBS

We Got Wood. We Got Prior. We Got Clement. We got Zambrano.

And a guy named Remlinger, maybe you've heard of him Kornbix.

Yeah, just horrible. What have you got to say, Braves fans? I feel for you, but another disappointing effort. After dominating so much of the season, many expected more.

Default BRAVES are winners

The reason the fans don't come to the divisional series is because it is like a regular season game to them. 12 straight division rings, 5 World Series visits and 1 world championship. Not to many other teams can say that, in fact only the Yankees! The Braves will be back next year, Maddux will be gone, but with Smoltz moving back into the starting rotation, it makes the Braves that much better.
1. John Smoltz
2. Russ Ortiz
3. Mike Hampton
4. Paul Byrd
5. Horacio Ramirez ( One of the best up and coming pitchers in the major leagues.)
That equates to about 85 wins from the starters and that is if the bats aren't as good as they were this year!
