Default He's BAAAAACK! Jeff George To Bears

All evening long it's been flashing on ESPN's Bottom Line that Len Pasquarelli is reporting that the Bears have signed quarterback Jeff George to a one-year contract (does this mean that the contract runs through the rest of the season or until this time next year?).

Well I guess Lovie Smith and Bill Parcells are kindred spirits, in that they want to win now - and hey, who can blame them: If the favored Eagles and Packers both win this week, both the Bears and Cowboys (and some other NFC teams as well) will be only one game behind in the race for the NFC's final wild-card spot with five games to play! (And according to weather.com, the temperature at 8:00 PM Central Time in Green Bay on Monday is going to be 30 degrees; remember that Brett Favre has never lost a regular-season game on The Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field when the kickoff-time temperature has been under 35).

Jeff George and learn the system? Ha.

He's got to be better than Krenzel or Quinn.

Can't be worse than what the Bears are using now

This past Sunday the Chargers snapped a ten-game cold-weather losing streak; this week the Vikings enter their game at Chicago having also lost ten in a row in cold weather.

Tom Jackson was absolutely right when he said that this is the most unpredictable season he's ever seen - and I say thank God for the Eagles and Patriots being the only islands of sanity in this polluted ocean of unpredictability and mediocrity.

Be interesting to see how loose Moss will be able to get playing in that kind of weather.

Maybe the Vikings will make a big mistake and knock Chad Hutchinson out of the game early with a concussion or something, and Jeff George will come off the bench and lead the Bears to victory in the cold weather.

And you might find this item interesting:

NFL Playoff Scenarios: Week 13

Philadelphia Eagles: Have clinched NFC East title. Can clinch first-round bye with a win AND a Minnesota loss AND a Seattle loss.

Atlanta Falcons: Can clinch NFC South title with a win or tie.

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous that the Eagles can clinch a first round bye this week. And I'm sure that homefield would be clinched simply by a win or tie next week, right?

No, homefield is likely going to come down to the wire unless the Falcons go in the tank as they are only a game behind the Eagles.

In most scenarios - and in all scenarios should the Falcons beat the Raiders at home next week - any tie between the Falcons and Eagles goes to the Eagles; so if the Eagles are one game ahead with one game to play or two games ahead with two to play, that's all, folks.
