Default Pettite back for one more year.

Andy Pettitte will pitch next year. And it will be in pinstripes.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3139152

This is Huge for the Yanks. If we can now land Haren or Santana I think we would be the unquestioned number one challenger to the Sox next year. And hte whole season will be another prelude to an epic ALCS battle that the SOx would unfortuantly win because We have Arod and they don't.

Ty:I'm not quite sure where they are

Yeah, I heard on the radio that since Pettitte is coming back to the Yanks they now wouldn't mind dealing Hughes & whoever else for Santana. If they get Santana, the BoSox better look out next year....

No, the Yanks will ultimately lose out because their bullpen is still not good enough to consistently get to Rivera with a lead.

As an Indians fan, I would much rather see Santana in pinstripes than in a Red Sox uniform. Can you imagine a Beckett/Santana duo? Jesus Christ, that's horrifying...who is your number one in the playoffs?

Santana for the Yankees is almost equally terrifying, but not quite. As doublee says, they still have bullpen trouble (especially with Joba in the starting rotation), but still--Santana, Joba, Pettite with that lineup? That's not what you want to face going into the playoffs either.

The Twins are really messing things up for the Indians right now. I was hoping to see Santana go to the Mets, but that looks like its not a possibility anymore. I can only hope the Twins decide they don't like the offers and hold on to him, but I don't think that's likely at this point.

The Twins are trying to field the most competitive team possible when they open their new ballpark in 2010. I hope to see them lock Liriano up for a while, as he should be their next ace.
As to the Yankees keeping Pettite, I say fine. If he still has the stuff, he could help them stay in contention. If not, we'll all find out soon enough.
