Default LSU downs Arkansas.

Don't really know that I am surprised that LSU won, just the way they couldn't stop Arkansas' ground game. I don't really understand why at some point Houston Nutt didn't say "ya know, Mustain can't throw as bad as this kid I have in there now. Let's put him in and see what he can do."

McFadden is a beast. Think a larger version of Reggie Bush, except he gets the bulk of the carries. Ton of speed and power. And only a sophomore. Good luck Gators, you are gonna need it stopping this kid.

And Arkansas will beat Florida and so, so many will call the SEC mediocre.

And honestly, the conference is down this year. No one has really played stellar ball. Several 1 and 2 loss teams, but no one is consistantly dominating. Next year will be interesting though. Most of these teams are really young this year, and should see marked improvement next year.

They might be down in terms of having a team that could, uh, beat Ohio State, but it's still the best Conference around and so tough to come out of it undefeated. Michigan likely would not be just a 1 loss team if they played in the SEC, for instance.

How little confidence does Nutt have in Mustain right now? Dick was horrible. When McFadden has more passing yards than your QB does how do you not yank him? Granted Mustain may not have been any better but when Casey Dick is playing as horribly as he was you have to try something to get the passing game going.

Think about this though. McFadden and Felix Jones are both only Sophomores.

Exactly my sentiments doublee. And who woulda thunk their OC, a HS coach last year could come in and do this. Of course, it helps when you have weapons like those 2.

And McFadden reminds me a LOT of L. Tomlinson, just the way he catches the ball, not just his running style. Twice he had cornerbacks beaten for passes. One was a probable score on the pass interference call.

LSU hadn't given up a 100 yd rusher all season. To give up 2 today and still wins, wow. Like doublee said. How bad was Dick? (and I have to do this, but doesn't Casey Dick sound like a bad porn name?)

Well, the comparison they made during the game was that of Eric Dickerson because at 6' 2" he is built more like Dickerson was.

This is good news for Notre Dame, isn't it?

How so? Notre Dame is already ranked ahead of Arkansas in the BCS. Beside I think the only way Notre Dame has any prayer of getting into the BCS Championship Game is if they bury USC like 50-0 and the human voters decide that Notre Dame is 10 times better now than when they played Michigan at the beginning of the year and deserve a shot at OSU.

Was Arkansas out of contention for a leapfrog of ND?

In any case, the only way the championship game will be (relatively) without controversy is if USC wins today and Florida loses to Arkansas... well, outside of Michigan anyway

Possibly, but I don't know that it matters in the context of Notre Dame's fate in terms of a BCS bid anyway. Arkansas was seen as having little to no chance of passing Michigan or USC to get into the championship game given that they beat Florida next week.

Notre Dame will most assuredly get a BCS bid. As long as they win 9 games and finish in the top 12 they are eligible for a bid and since they have 10 wins they are almost assured of a bid unless USC plasters them to the point where they would be voted out of the top 10.

Arkansas losing helps them in the sense that there is one less one loss team jockeying for position in the BCS but I doubt Notre Dame has too terribly much to worry about as the BCS bowls want Notre Dame in their game as they are still a huge TV draw.
