Default Garciaparra out 2-3 months

Ouch, that looked PAINFUL (groin injury).

Just when the Cubbies got back Prior...Wood is slowing settling in...BAM!, another dude goes on the DL. As if they needed more offensive woes.

Who knew...that in less than a year...he was with the Sox, face of the organization...held out for more money...turned down $60 mil/4 yrs...got traded to the Cubs...and THEN Boston wins a title. Ouch.

Will the most *C*ursed team in baseball, make it an entire century without a title? (Shut up Boston...no more from you.) Can they even make it into the playoffs this year. :uhoh:

AL East teams may cry they play in the same division as Yanks-Sox, but the Cubs have to contend with Cards-'Stros, and there's six teams, so if they can even make it INTO the WS.

That would be breaking a curse in and of itself.

Yea I would say that probably had to hurt. I have had a groin injury before but not like he did. This is going to take a lot away from the cubbies. I don't believe in curses but all the stuff that has happened to the cubs in the past couple of years is making me wonder. I mean first, wood and prior can never be healthy the whole year, then the bartmen incident (even though that did not lose them the game), and now their best players goes down this year. You got to be kidding me. I don't know whay is going on but there has to be something. I don't think one team can have all this bad luck all on their own. All this stuff just makes me wonder if there really are such things as curses and if the cubs have one.

If Hairston and Neifi cannot handle the job the Cubs have a kid, Ronny Cedeno, at AAA who could come up and play until Nomar is ready to come back. Cedeno is on the 40-man roster and has never played in the bigs, so he has all his options left. His attitude is good enough to handle being moved around for a while. His defense is solid and his bat is likely a year or so away, but he could do the job, I'm sure. He won't give what Nomar would, but is better than making a trade just to fill a short-term hole.
I hope Nomar is healthy enough to play later this season.

On Jim Rome they were talking and wondering if nomar's career has been on the decline because he used to take steroids and he is always getting hurt cuz he is off the juice now. I doubt nomaa ever took roids.

That's a tough break for Nomar since this is the type of injury that is not easy to recover from a groin injury.

Who is "they" might I ask...and if Rome had anything to do with it, I immediately discredit that source, since he practically pushes EVERYONE off the figurative bridge than claims then gets on the bandwagon AND has the audacity to invite a player he just "BURNED" as a guest on the show!

The most cursed team with the most cursed person...and just some speculation (though I'm not completely blaming this on Nomar), now the Cubbies have TWO curses - since the Sox won after they got rid of him. How much more can a city, with two cursed baseball teams, TAKE?

The starters will be ok, but the closer issue isn't resolved and that batting lineup is still shifty.

"They" is Boston Globe writer Bob Ryan. He make these accusations in his column and I heard this being discussed on the Dan Patrick radio show today, as well. I wish he would stop starting unsubstantiated rumors. As Dan said, this is like a witch hunt and it's wrong.

Nomar seems to have taken Boston's curse with him to Chicago. A lot of people, myself included, were looking for Nomar to have a bounce back season in Chicago with Boston behind him and injury-free. Apparantly we'll have to wait until 2006 to see if the Nomar of old re-surfaces.

Well, there you go. And NY beatwriters are tough?! Boston writers can get off their high-horses...yeah I'm sure it was exhilarating winter penning 1478239 books on the Second Tea Party, I'm sure...real piece of work that John Updike might even write prologues for (get it?) But is it possible to cover sports with just slightly less bias?

No. Because sportswriters get to abuse the journalistic integrity of *factchecking*. The Stephen Glass-es...all lumped up into one category.
