Default Carrie Underwood, shut the f*** up....

I swear, if I have to hear that crappy "Before he Cheats" song one more time, I'm going to lose my damn mind. Unfortunately for myself, it has become an anthem for girls here in the Southeast. For those who don't know, the song is about a woman who's significcant other cheated on her, so whe takes it upon herself to get revenge not by messing him up mentally, but destroying his vehicle that from the sound of it is very expensive. I dunno, b/c I usually try to drown it out w/work whenever people around me play it on the radio.

I was speaking to one of the girls at work, who was singing the song, what was the big deal about it? She told me it showed women aren't going to take any crap. My response was that if a woman were to ever do that to my vehicle, I'd have to spend a night in jail, because I would punch the b**** right in the mouth. She told me I was rude. I asked if she believed in equality. She said yes. I told her I'm an equal opportunity ass-kicker. (and no, I would never really hit a female. But damn if I wouldn't think about it really hard) Oh, and the best part, said female I was speaking to is going through a divorce. The reason? She was screwing some other guy. :bash:

So did you find her soon to be ex and tell him to destroy her vehicle, because she would understand that he just wasn't going to take any crap from her?

The joys of mainstream country music.

If a chick ****ed up my car I'd slap a big fat lawsuit on her and say, "See you in court, *****."

I tend to stay away from country songs that advocate violence toward a man or his toys.

Be thankful. I can't get away from it here. Here it is white trash womens' anthem. (watch Sue be a fan of the song and here I am inserting my foot in my mouth.)

lol. Like I said, insert foot into mouth.

Not what I meant Sue. I just meant that I was blasting it, and here where I live, it's just white trash that listens to it. Wasn't implying anything.

It wouldn't matter if they just played it on country radio, as I don't listen to that stuff. Makes my ears bleed. But they play it on almost every station here. There is no escape.

I didn't take it the wrong way, honestly...hence the laughs!!!

They play it on the pop stations down here, too. I switch it immediately when I hear it...

And I just don't get that. Why is it more and more country music is playing on other radio stations? It's hard to find any new music I like b/c I have to stomach all the crap they are playing all the time.

A quick look at the current Billboard Hot 100 chart explains the love for Carrie Underwood's song by other radio station formats.

The Hot 100 puts equal weight towards airplay as it does towards singles sales from retial stores and digital sales, both tracked and compiled by Nielson SoundScan, when it ranks the industry's most-respected music chart. If Carrie Underwood (who currently ranks #19 on the Billboard Hot 100) or artists like Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, etc., continue to draw large interest towards their songs through retail sales and digital sales, they will begin to crossover to other mainstream music formats.

The biggest problem with crossover songs is that it takes that song a long-time before it finally goes away (because it has usually been overplayed by country radio before it ever hits an AC or a Hot AC station). And according to Radio & Records, "Before He Cheats" received over 2,400 radio plays this past week (making it rank in the top 30 in the United States)...
