Damn my boys behind the QB, the Fullbacks get no love!!!! Dan Alexander was drafted in the 5th, Heath Evans in the 4th and the said he might not even start, and Ja'Mar Toombs didn't even get drafted, what's happening to the fullback?

I think now with the running style of the running backs there isn't as much a need for a power blocker ect. Its a lot quick game now and so of course the slower, or not as quick FBs aren't as important now. IMO.

I agree, fullbacks don't get much attention or respect. But that's the nature of their position - and they know it. Like Peter said, they role is becoming less pivotal now, but they are the players who do the dirty work.

...no need to make jokes about my next question... just like I answer "dumb" hockey questions without laughing, I expect "dumb" football questions to be answered without laughing!

...What does a fullback do?

The fullbacks main function is blocking. Some fullbacks also are pass catchers out of the backfield. They also run once in a while and then guys like Mike Alstott run a lot.

Do you think Emmitt Smith misses his old fullback, Darryl Johnson?

Oh, I think so.

Now, he will be in the Fox broadcast booth with Troy Aikman.

The thing is, that while more and more teaams are getting away from the old formations, that allows those teams that go back to them in a few years to seem like they are forward thinkers. The fullback may be less important right now, but they'll be increasingly so in a couple of years when everyone and their dogs are looking for an alternative to the "West Coast" Offense.

Default Moose ....

If you based your game on running behind someone like Moose, and then he's no longer there ... it hurts your mental state.

For a while, it's hard to trust anybody blocking for you. And then there's times when you don't have anybody blocking for you, and after a while it takes a toll on the body.

Emmitt is one of the best running backs ever ... but to loose someone like Moose from your team, things get rough.
