Default U.S. Goalie Controversy?

With Mike Dunham (NAS) being named to the U.S. Olympic squad as one of the first 8 in early spring, it seemed quite obvious that he would be the go-to guy in goal for the United States Men's Olympic Hockey Team.

Now, with some goalies getting hot, and a front-page NHL.com poll, fans are saying that perhaps Dunham should not get the nod in goal as the U.S. tries for the second "Miracle on Ice" at the SLC02 Olympic Games.

Who would you choose?:

Tom Barrasso (CAR)
Brian Boucher (PHI)
Rick DiPietro (NYI)
Mike Dunham (NAS)
Brent Johnson (STL)
Mike Richter (NYR)
Damian Rhodes (ATL)

I, to be honest with you, didn't even realize Boucher was American :uhoh: , so that changes my view on everything... he is the best American goalie right now in the NHL... err -- unfortunately, he's injured, listed as "day-to-day" right now... will that mess up what has been a HOT season thus far.

...but we've discussed the Canadian goalie situation many 'a time on this board... the U.S. obviously does not have exactly the same problem and only a few legit guys to choose from in goal, but this is what my goalie line-up would be for Team USA:

#1 - Mike Dunham
#2 - Brian Boucher
#3 - Rick DiPietro

I'm going to go with Boucher. Even though he's on the IR now, he was having a solid year before he hurt his hamstring.

The backup would be Richter and next would be Dunham.

LOL!! True enough.

On a side note, Richter was this week's NHL Player of the Week with something like a 2-0-1 record and a .65 GAA

I'd go with boucher as starter... Richter is oooooooold and in my opinion he should've retired long ago... i agree with Lee's pics though for the 3 on the team... except where Boucher and Dunham are

Default Running? The answer!

Dear Budman:

Icas has a very cool quotation: running like jogging. And indeed running (or jogging) asks you every day if you are going to be a wimp today or if you are going to be strong. I ask myself that question 4 times a week!!!!!

Well I think that what it means.... right Icas?

Well, i guess its good , but in all honsty i would have to say i am a little more secure than that, not taking anything away from anyone else though!!!!, i just don't have to question my strength on a daily basis.
I do applaud those that stand for a moral reason and make a differance in there lives and the lives of the people around them . I like to think of it as reality, i have never been one for bu**sh*t. if you know what i mean?. thats why i love hockey so much and hate pro wrestling(wwf) .hockey is real, there are lives and stories of courage that we all can admire and fashion our lives after, especially the little kids that watch hockey, it sets a positive example where wwf sets a negitive one. That being said , keep on being strong and never , never wimp out. keep the faith josie.

I'm very, very surprised that two "older" goalies were named instead of just one. So now, who will be the starter? -- Richter, Barasso, or Dunham?

I think Barasso will be #3 and it'll come down to who's hot for the #1 job... either that or they'll go like Canada is supposedly going and play both Dunham, Richter, and maybe even Barasso during the round robin, see who's the best, and go with him the rest of the way.

Being a Flyers fan, I see Boucher play just about every game. This kid is something amazing. He had a great year two years ago and went into a bit of a slump last season. It looks like he finally is showing off his talents again. I think the "Bouche" should be the starter between the pipes @ SLC.

I'd like to see him there, too. Unfortunately, Team USA has already named their goalies: Richter, Barrasso, and Dunham. Out of those, who do you think should start?
