Default CP3 to Lakers!?

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/s...ul-sources-say

Quote:
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to surrender Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in a trade for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Sources close to the process tell Stein that the Houston Rockets remain part of the talks and are trying to complete a deal that would send Gasol to Houston and the Rockets' Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans, along with Odom.

In Paul, the Lakers would be getting an All-Star and U.S. Olympic Team member who has averaged 37.1 minutes, 18.7 points and 9.9 assists a game in his six seasons.
It's not official, but looks like it's happening. I think Paul is a superstar, so the Lakers will improve, but it will also hurt them to lose Gasol's size. Poor New Orleans will get draft picks and scraps. The little markets can never keep big talent. Kobe and CP3 ... watch out, Miami?

It appears CP3 is going to the Clippers, rather than the Lakers. Does this make the Lakers #2 team in their market?

Wow, I can't imagine how the Lakers feel that the NBA prevented them from landing Paul, only to have them go to the other team who plays in their arena. Paul and Griffin will be fun to watch, but my guess is Paul won't be there in two years.
