It may be his me first attitude that some have eluded too or that he is not really all that proven I think he will end up in Philly cuz they are willing to do anything to get a SB ring.

It's not a WR the Eagles need. They need a QB that doesn't start dry-heaving at the first sign of success....

No, they don't really need him per se, but it sure would be fun to see how many points they would score with Owens and Burress lining up together. Heck, I wonder if Reid would even bother call any running plays.

I know that Drew Rosenhaus will try to keep the wheels moving throughout draft week, but nothing that rocks the floor.
By the way, Rosenhaus sure might gather enough dough this spring, only IF he gets the big-time contracts for the players he represents. Everyone wants a piece of this guy.

RabidBronco, does the word "bust" mean anything to you? Any one of the members of the "deep RB pool" in this year's draft could turn out to be one (more than likely, one or more of them will end up being just that); by contrast, Alexander, James and Anthony Thomas (who you didn't mention, plus he's a UFA unlike the other two) are proven NFL commodities. Plus if you're looking for a RB and you're way down in the draft order (e.g., the Eagles), you're at the mercy of what dozens of other teams pick ahead of you if you cast your lot with the draft.

Well, it does not look like Pace is going anywhere unless the Rams signing him to a long term deal is just a precursor to trading him to Houston.

Well, so the Giants get Burress after all. According to Pasquarelli it Seems the straw that broke the camel's back with the Giants last week was Burress' refusal to take a physical before signing a contract, amongst other things. Sounds as though maybe his new agent was able to talk a little sense into him.

Talk about good news and bad news - tonight I was channel-surfing and just happened to discover that my cable company carries NFL Network. Then I find out that Little Lito is going to have to face Plaxico Burress twice every year from now on!

Man that is a bummer here I thought the texans were actually going to do something to save Carr then they can't get it done. I seriously hope that this is going to be a sign and trade.

Default Plaxico to Giants with $25 million deal

Quote:
Just one week after abruptly breaking off contract negotiations with Plaxico Burress, the New York Giants on Thursday evening signed the free agent wide receiver to a six-year, $25 million contract, ESPN.com has learned.

Burress and Rosenhaus, the agent retained by the veteran wideout in an effort to fan his flagging market value, flew to New York early Thursday morning to meet with Giants coaches and team officials. The trip came after Rosenhaus persuaded the New York brass to revisit its interest in the former Pittsburgh Steelers starter.

The deal includes $8.25 million in guaranteed bonuses, an initial signing bonus of $5 million and then a $3.25 option bonus due next spring. There are also guaranteed salaries in the first two seasons. Burress will earn $11.38 million in the first two seasons of the contract and $14.6 million in the first three years.

This is a significant upgrade to the Giants. If Shockey can return to rookie year form (how often do you say that?) and Tiki Barber can have another stellar season, they have a lot of potential. Then there's Eli Manning, which is another big question mark, but certainly a great deal of upside, as well. What are your thoughts? Will the Steelers be okay with Ward and Randle El?

I doubt it. My guess is Pace was just using the Texans to leverage a long term deal out of the Rams.

Quincy Carter's agent is talking with the Bucs. Pls tell me Gruden is kidding right? He's shown how much cares about the game and his teammates with the Jets and Cowboys. That's exactly what the Bucs need in thier locker room at this point in a struggling couple of years.

Burress is overrated...I'm glad he's out of the 'Burgh. You could tell he wasn't playing to his full potential during the season. Even during the AFC Championship game, with the Steelers down by two touchdowns...he drops a ball in the endzone on 3rd down.

The Giants are playing a very dangerous game. They obviously wouldn't have signed Burress if they hadn't traded away their first-round pick for Eli Manning. So to "compensate" for their lack of a first-rounder, they signed a high-priced free agent.

This is exactly how Carolina disintegrated into 1-15 rubble in 2001 - first they signed DT Sean Gilbert (in the spring of 1998), who had been franchised by the Redskins, costing the Panthers two first-round picks; they then went out and plunged heavily in the free-agent market the next two years rather than be caught standing still. The result was your classic salary-cap squeeze and a total collapse.

Vikings trade a 7th round pick to the J-E-T-S for Sam Cowart.

If the Vikings don't win the NFC North in 2005, you can't blame their front office for not having done enough during the off-season.
