Default Tipping

Does anyone hate to tip. I do, but I am a good tipper. No less than 15%, usually 20%.

But it makes me mad employers don't pay waiters or waitresses enough.

My brother is a big tipper. Usually 25% or more. But he has money. I make $11,000 per year and I tip every meal I eat out and I eat out everyday.

I just think employers should pay their help a decent wage and don't depend on the customers to pay their salaries.

Damn, bama, I was expecting a cow tipping story.

But to the topic, tipping is a *****. I usually do the 15%, that is unless I'm out on a date then I whip out the cash and tip upwards of 25%.

Gah, I just want a lot of money.

I tip based on service, usually. If the service sucked, **** 'em, they can work a little harder if they want more than a buck on a ten dollar bill. **** 'em. I've left places without tipping many times.

I was at a bar with nickel drinks one night, got two of 'em and left a quarter. Lady gives me this look, I ask "what?" She points out how the last guy left a buck for his 2 nickel drinks. So the rest of the night I proceeded to order 4 drinks a time leaving her a quarter. **** that dumb noise.

Other times I'll be at a bar with all you can drink and tip good as a mother****er just because the service is good.

I absolutely hate when people think someone is cheap for not tipping or not tipping well.

I don't really give a **** if someone can't feed their kids because I tipped 10% on them. Serve better. **** is simple.

It is a tip, it's not part of the tab. It's at my discretion. The one thing I hate the most is when places put in an automatic gratuity. That **** is ridiculous and unexcusable. You want to make more money, get your servers paid a little more, well, figure out how many people leave less than 15%, how many leave more than 20%, find out if they're not making enough money and include that difference in your prices.

If they expect a tip, **** 'em.

I always tip 20% or more. I usually spend a lot of money when I go out... example, yesterday at the bar all day $300 tab (yeah, when the Pats win, the rest of the day seems a blur - remember, kickoff in Hawaii is 8am!!!) left an $80 tip.
In highschool (1994) I was a delivery boy making $4 an hour under the table plus tips. Tips were what I basically made my $$ off of, so I can relate and I always tip well (unless the service was horrid, then I tip 10-15%)... good carma.

Waitress', waiters, bartenders, etc... are part of the experience when out on the town. Crappy service crappy tip good service good tip. If it take you 10 mins to realize I have finished my drink before asking if I want another screw you and you tip.

I agree with most here, if they give crappy service, they get a crappy tip. If they give good service, they get a good tip.

I remember one time in high school a bunch of my friends and I went out to eat(there was like 8 of us) and at the end the waitress was like "yall do know you are supposed to leave me a tip right", so of course, we left her the spare change we had in our pockets.

Doug, I couldn't agree with you more I hate it when wait staff acts as though a decent tip is to be expected no matter how much of a jerk-off they are or how bad the service is. I will usually give a decent tip as long as the person is courteous and at least appears to be making an effort to serve me.

I think I have only ever left one time without tipping and that was when I was out for breakfast with a co-worker after we had pulled an all-nighter at work and the waitress dumped orange juice all over our table and then plopped a bunch of rags on the table as if we were expected to clean it up. Then to top it off we had to ask for silverware so we could eat our food.

I usually tip between 10%-25%, depending on service.

My brother's a pizza deliverer, so you better tip them too. Because they remember...

My standard for tipping is 20%, but when I sit down at a table the tip can go under or over depending on the service. Tipping has gone too far, when there are tip cups in fast food restaurants.

Oh, I only ever tip unless someone is serving my food at the table or delivering my food to the door.

I love tipping, that's where i get to demand service. My parents were always automatic 14-15% tippers and most people are similar or a little higher, but i don't buy making it automatic. I believe in anywhere between 0-200% depending on the service and the cost (if it's a good deal i'll tip more). If everyone tipped like that there'd be more cheap restaurants with great service... and more richer waiters and waitresses. Live the dream!

(Instead by tipping an automatic %, people encourage higher prices and worse service-- crazy)

I generally tip 30% to 40% regardless of service. With the socialist/communist/Marxist mindset that I have, I feel for the proletariat.
