Question Which QB Gets Benched First?

They all thoroughly deserve it, but which one will "win" the race to the bench?

I really hope it's Palmer. I feel really sorry for Cincinnati fas, coming into this year with some optimism.

Why is Testaverde on this list? As long as Dallas is competitive he'll be starting.

Brunell, Collins, Palmer, Testaverde

Rumors abound in the last few days that Parcells may consider trying Henson out if Testaverde doesn't improve and the team doesn't start scoring.
All media hype to this juncture, but it's out there.

Yeah, Dallas is 2-3 with a trip to Green Bay on the horizon. I know Green Bay is 0-3 at home, but they are due to win a home game. Vinny has not played exceptionally well the past two weeks. Only 126 yards against NYG and while he threw well against the Steelers he took five sacks and looked indecisive at times. The offense is only scoring 17 ppg and with the defense giving up 23 ppg they may look to Henson to try and bring a spark to the offense.

I see Palmer being the safest quite honestly. He is a young QB and Lewis had to know going in this year could be a bit rocky with Palmer as the starting QB. If he truly believes Palmer is his guy then he needs to stick with him.

It would not surprise me if Brunell gets hurt before he gets yanked.

In this order, first to last:

Testaverde, Brunell, Collins, Palmer.

Parcells and Gibbs will do what they have to in order to win. Testaverde is starting to look really shaky, but Brunell has been shaky all season, and yet Gibbs has shown a real reluctance to consider the possibility of Patrick Ramsey playing. Therefore, I think Parcells is more likely to give his QB the hook.

Collins, for all his failings, is a starting quarterback. Marques Tuiasosopo is and will be a career backup. Good enough to make the roster, but you'd prefer he didn't actually have to play.

And I agree with doublee; Palmer won't get benched this season. The Bengals aren't going to the playoffs, Marvin Lewis isn't on the hot seat, and the team has cast its lot with Palmer.

Having just read P King's Tuesday column on si.com, Brunell may be pretty safe, as King suggests that Gibbs has no faith at all in Ramsey.

I would like to think Palmer is safe, too, because I'd like for him to be the QB the next time the Steelers face him. Also, Lewis' main concern must remain his defense. The Bengals are out and out atrocious, defensively. Not as bad as Minnesota, maybe, but still, really, really ungood.

Vinny Testaverde should be the first benched.

The guy is just too old. I have watched two Dallas games, including the Steeler game, and he just does not have the accuracy or power to start as an NFL quarter back.

He is only hurting the Cowboys and the man has no fire power left in him.

Bench this guy.

Hmm. I thought he looked pretty good early in the game, dissecting the Steelers D for a TD right away, causing me to worry I was in for a long, nightmarish, unhappy introduction to Big Ben.

And then Big Ben returned the favor, so I was happy.

Vinny looked pretty good early in the game, but he seems to have problems finishing games these days. He let the Steelers game get away with that fumble late in the game. He took three sacks and fumbled in the fourth quarter against Pittsburgh. Let us not forget the Cleveland game where he threw three second half picks where his only saving grace was that Garcia seemed intent on matching INTs with him.

Of the four teams Parcells has the most riding on this season. All we heard about from Cowboys camp this summer was how Parcells always takes his team to the Promised Land in the second season. He made the playoffs last season and was expected to do so again this year.

I think at best most thought Gibbs would get the 'Skins to somewhere between 7 and 9 wins. Gibbs has a lot of leeway in DC so he is not going to sweat a bad season this year.

Same goes for Oakland nobody really thought they were going to be serious contenders this year either.

Only delusional Bengal fans thought their team had a serious shot at contention this season.

I wouldn't say it was just delusional Bengals fans, doublee. I thought they'd challenge Baltimore this year for the AFC-N.
I also thought the Steelers would challenge the Brownies for the cellar, so...

Doublee, iIf Kitna had remained starter, it doesn't seem delusional to expect the possibility of perhaps a two game improvment over last season. Unless Kitna was just a fluke last year, which he could've been.

I dunno, KB. That defense is pretty awful.
