Southern Miss has got to move the ball on this drive or they're toast.

Now TCU goes from winning that game and getting to possibly go to the BCS (or as Kirk Herbstriet said is going to the BCS if they won that game last night), to not even winning their conference and getting their conference's automatic bid to the Liberty Bowl....lol.

Now TCU gets to go play in the GMAC bowl for being 2nd place in Conference USA. I would say quite a huge difference from a BCS bowl game.

Dave, you had made a good call on TCU possibly going undefeated before the season started, but I picked Southern Miss to win over TCU and win Conference USA. After Southern Miss lost 34-2 to Cal on the road and was embarrassed by Nebraska at home, I thought they had no chance. Now Southern Miss has won 5 games in a row, went undefeated in conference play, and won Conference USA outright.

Funny thing is, Memphis is playing outstanding ball in Conference USA. They have been rolling up teams as of late, and scoring an ungodly amount of points. This Memphis team has beaten Ole Miss and Louisville for 2 quality wins on the season. And listen to this stat....

Memphis is the only team in Division 1A who has outgained their opponents offensively in every single game this season. Yes, that includes the likes of Oklahoma, USC, and everyone else in college football.

Memphis has a well-considered if mostly unknown QB. I remember reading a bit about him early in the year, but can't remember his name for the life of me right now.

Thanks for the uh, what shall we call it... the rubbing my nose in your rightness...

Anyway, the Horned Frogs had been living far more dangerously than I thought they would/should. Of course, Hassel didn't start the season as their QB of choice, so I think that affected things.

Southern Miss and Memphis will likely be the powers in the C-USA beginning in 2005 (TCU is on the move, aren't they?), and between the two of them should have their own opportunities at undefeated seasons, only to be blown off by whatever system is in place after 2005.

It's sad; as bad as the ACC raping of the Big East was, the Big East destroyed C-USA. I mean, SMU, Rice and Tulsa.. ick...

Dave, I think TCU is staying in CUSA, at least from what I had heard, but then again I have not been keeping up with that lately.

Danny Wimprine is the Memphis QB, and he has been great this season as a Junior. But their running back, Deangelo Williams has been just as good this season. I have not checked the stats lately, but at several points this season Williams was #1 in rushing plus receiving yards in college football.

The problem about Memphis next season is that they are losing a majority of their good defensive players to graduation. So, I would take Southern Miss as an early favorite to win CUSA next season, and TCU would be right in there as well.

And if you think the raping of Conference USA in football was harsh, C USA for basketball is now offically terrible.

Well, it was a great season none-the-less. I have heard rumors that TCU may take the Fort Worth Bowl bid (which kinda sucks) so that they could have a shot at a Big 12 team. I would rather see them play Miami (OH) in Mobile. Either way, this was a good season for the future of TCU football.
