Default Agassi article on tennis homepage

I gotta say, I thought the article was good, but I do not 100% agree with it. Yes Agassi could of commited his life to tennis in the early 90's, but who is to say he would of won slam after slam, or if he was even ready to devote his life to tennis then

Maybe his dreams were different then, maybe he wasn't mature enough hence not producing the same amount of talent he shows now.

Maybe he would be burned out by now and never be able to reach the level he is at now simply due to his maturity level.

I think Agassi is playing well in this stage of his life only because he did not play and burn out his body and mind early on. He will be one of the few who can get away with that, but he did it.

Did he rob tennis? I say no. Did he let tennis down when it "needed him most", I still say no. Ya never know, he could of been plagued with injuries, or just not menatlly there like he is now.

Just my thoughts.

On initial thought, it seems that Agassi made nothing but a poor decision by not dedicating himself early on like Sampras did, but your point is very valid and one I never thought of. Of course, if he dedicated himself early on, he probably would have had more success and slams as he would have been in his prime. That said, the one thing you can't teach is experience and maturity.

Thank you for the feedback.

Although I agree with most of your points I still believe that one owes it to himself first to do the best possible, as early as possible.

In my opinion, "being around longer because of not committing and burning out earlier so much" is a poor excuse for under achievement.

Sampras did his best throughout his career. Although his skills have greatly diminished, looking back one can see that he did the best he could all times.

Again, thanks for the feedback.
