St. Louis is doing everything it can to appear marketable to a potential buyer. Pronger was let loose because the Blues couldn't afford to give him a long-term deal, because long-term deals for older players don't look good to prospective buyers.

While they still have guys like Keith Tkachuk and Doug Weight, this next season will be a big time rebuilding one, and possibly see the decades long playoff streak come to an end (unless that happened two years ago, I honestly can't remember).

Wow! Niki with the Blackhawks? I thought for sure that Chicago would be the one team actively looking to avoid progress. I mean, just look at the ownership.

Don't forget they also lost Pavel Demitra. Blues did make the playoffs in '03-'04. They lost to the Sharks in the 1st round.

That's the end of the Bolts, Khabby was the legs the franchise stood on.

The offense will still be good they just need John Grahme to step up in a big way. I don't think he is ready for that so I think it is pretty safe to say that there will be a new champion.

I would have liked having Martin LaPointe back in Detroit. Very pleased Jiri Fischer will be back. This young man has tremendous potential. He will be a force to be reckoned with. I read he was getting 20/30 minutes ice time last season while playing for the Czech's. Datsyuk's agent says "Pavel would like to return to Detroit but Pavel must do what's right for Pavel". Sounds like Pavel may have the same agent as Federov. (good grief) I'm glad Dandenault's gone. Waiting on word about Zetterberg. Overall I gotta say I'm pleased with the way Detroit's shaping up.

The Stars also add former Vancouver netminder Hedberg to take some of the load off Turco.

man alot of you have yet to mention the new look Penguins. After today they have inked Thibault to mind the net with Andre-Fleury, Ziggy Palffy, John LeClair (today), Mark Recchi and Sergei Gonchar.

The Pens look really good this year.

I agree. But they haven't proven anything yet this season. The Cup is anybody's for the taking. I'm not buying into the whole Crosby thing until I actually see him get some NHL ice time.

We could of had Khabby and Vinny or Marty. Now as of today we have both Vinny and Marty signed two loooong deals. Marty signed a 6yr 31MM contrat today. Considering all we really lost was Khabby I think the Bolts did a great job in the off season.

Its good.... sooooo good to be a Flames fan.
