Default Astros now have two Clemens

Koby Clemens bypasses Texas scholarship

Associated Press

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros know they'll have at least one Clemens in the organization in the future: infielder Koby Clemens, the oldest son of their pitching ace.

Roger Clemens' son, drafted in the eighth round with the 254th pick, signed a contract Thursday then took batting practice with the team during a workout in Houston. His next stop is Greeneville, Tenn., where he'll join the Astros' rookie league affiliate.

"Watching him sign his contract with his mother standing there, I had memories of signing mine with my mother standing there," Roger Clemens said. "Since Koby's been knee-high, he's been wanting to do this. I think he's ready to go."

Who knows, maybe he'll follow in his father's footsteps. Interesting story.

Koby Clemens isn't a pitcher. Might want to change the thread title.

Cant go wrong by him, even if he is half the player Clemens was, he'd still do great things.

Koby may be converted into catcher. Wouldn't it be fun to see him catch his dad? I think that would be a first in major league history. I'm guessing this prospect will keep the Rocket in uniform for a couple more seasons.

Yeah, I had heard that the 'Stros were thinking of converting him to a catcher thus starting the rumors that Roger may hang around a couple of more years on the off chance he may get to pitch to his son in a game.
