Exclamation Johnny Oates Ill, Expected to Live About a Year

http://msn.espn.go.com/mlb/news/2001/1108/1275474.html

Quote:
Former Texas and Baltimore manager Johnny Oates has been diagnosed with the most aggressive form of primary brain tumors.

Oates, who made his illness public Thursday, will undergo surgery later this month in Virginia. The average survival rate is only about a year.
This is sad - I thought Oates was a good manager who was dealt a bad hand in Texas. It wasn't his fault Doug Melvin decided to sign ARod instead of decent pitching.

Here's hoping Johnny pulls through this.

It is amazing to know that just a year ago, Oates was managing. And now he could possibly be a year away from his deathbed. Kinda put sports in perspective, not that they've been in perspective for the past couple months.

That's very unfortunate.

I wish him and his family the very best.

Best wishes to him and his family..

My Spanish teacher's mom just died this week due to lung cancer so I can see how it could affect his family. My Spanish teacher will be out for a couple of weeks, her mom is being sent to Ireland for a funeral where most of her family is.

Terrible news. Cancer is tough. Let's hope he gets past that year!
