Default Music Players

We've had plenty of threads about what you use to download music. I prefer KaZaa Lite but I'm wondering what you use to listen to the music. I currently use WMP 8.0 but was thinking of just using KaZaa's built in player since it automatically adds tracks and keeps up with the tracks for you. I definetly want a free one so let me know what your reccomendations are.

I use Winamp 2. I hide it in the system tray and use the multimedia controls on my keyboard to toggle between tracks. Really convenient and limits the clutter and other stuff I don't need that are provided by Winamp 3 and Media Player.

Winamp 2.72, I still have it. I don't see the point of Winamp 3; it really isn't much of an upgrade and I still like having it. It's simple and clear.

Sam, upgrade to 2.81 ... it's the same as 2.72 on the outside, but fixes bugs, etc. make it more stable and complete. No harm in sticking with 2x, but you might as well get the latest version.

I use Winamp 2.81 and sometimes 3, but I like 2.81 better. I have it minimized and "always on top" at the title bar at the top of my screen. I can see what song is playing and expand the playlist or change songs with one click.

The problem with WinAmp that I didn't like was only being able to have one playlist easily. I like haveing the library of all songs then many playlits at one click on the button. Not going to loadlist and browsing for it.

Windows Media 9. It doesn't go into the system tray when you minimize it... instead, it becomes a little control panel on the task bar and you can control all your stop/play/fwd/back, etc.... also, you can pop-up the visualization. Pretty sweet

It's still in developmental stages (currently RC), but you can download the lastest here.

Ya it's like Beta or something 'cuz my verison is 9.00 ....works fine though... it had some problems with runinng NHL 2003 so I had to change a setting in the registry but other than that it's working fine.... Don't worry, MS will make a big deal like they did for MSN8 last weekened when WMP9 "officiallY" comes out.

Well, when I listen to MP3s, I just have one big playlist with over 550 songs that I listen to. I sort them alphabetically so I have some sense of organization, of course. Otherwise, and most of the time, I have a small playlist of Internet radio stadions, so having multiple playlists isn't something I need.

Is this minimize feature only available in WMP 9? I only use WMP to watch movie/multimedia clips here and there, but I might try it out a bit more.

I just went and grabbed WM9 after Lee mentioned it and it's great. It just sits there next to the system tray with audio controls. It also automatically grabs new files when you download them.

I use Winamp 2.80. I probably should upgrade to 2.81 (?) but I'm kinda lazy.

I like it. I've used other players before like Sonique and MusicMatch Jukebox. I just find Winamp the best in terms of size and other factors.
