Wellemeyer finally put together back-to-back quality starts and Ryan Franklin is now 9 for 9 in converting saves. The bullpen has really gelled since Franklin was named the closer.

Interesting story on Dustin Pedroia on ESPN's "E:60" show. Talk about an unconventional AL MVP last year at 5'8", 170. But people criticizing him is what gives him the chip on the shoulder that drives him.

Marc, it was actually DOM DiMaggio who passed away...Joe's brother. But the man was a 7-time MLB All-Star. No slouch himself.

Joe died in March 1999. It was a bad week for guys named Dom -- Dom DeLuise died earlier in the week.

The Reds are now tied for first place in the NL Central with the Brewers and Cardinals. They clearly have the best pitching staff in the division, and the bats are really hot right now.

They have a winning record against every team in the central, and the best road record in baseball.

This team is for real.

The Twins scored an entire series worth of runs against the White Sox today, tying the Sox worst ever defeat -- 20-1 (the Angels beat them 19-0 in 2002). 8 of the Twins 20 runs were unearned and the Sox run was also. Mauer was 3/4 with 2 doubles and a grand slam. He drove in 6.
Right now, the Twins have outscored the Sox 37-33, but trail in the season series 4-2, with all the games being played in Chicago thusfar.

The Twins brought up Anthony Swarzak to take Perkins' spot in the rotation tonight and he pitched very well. He won the game, going 7 innings allowing no runs on 5 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 3 and appeared to have good command of all his pitches. Could be Perkins' last start for a while.

Cards' pitching has been off the charts the past week and a half allowing just 9 runs in the last nine games.
