Actually, Neifi Perez played 3B today. Ronny Cedeno moved into the SS position, a place he should continue to hold down for several more years. Nomar may move to 2B and stay with the Cubs, but that is not certain.

the box score says Normar started at 3rd and had 4 AB's. Perez started at 2nd and then moved to 3rd.

As a Sox fan, I'm really sad to see Nomar's health woes continue. I hope he comes back strong some day. Because if not, I doubt many people will ever remember how truly great he really was during his first 4 years in the Majors. His 2000 has to be right there with the best SS season of all time

2000 - .372 AVG, .434 OBP, .599 SLG, 1.033 OPS, 21 HR, 96 RBI

We still luv ya Nomie

I saw that. Sorry. I just took a quick look at an in-game box score and saw that Nomar wasn't listed. My bad.
I don't like him playing at 3B. He doesn't have the arm strength for that position. I'd rather see Todd Walker play 3B and Nomar go in at 2B or have Neifi play 3B. Depends on the pitching matchup.

Normar should just day some time off. if he cant play short then he shouldnt play at all.

Dusty is insane. when does this guy get fired? going nowhere w/ plently of talent. powerful bats, a great starting pitching staff. they are a decent bullpen away from being a condender. the Cubs need someone who will get them into the passing lane.

Well, here is the thing. The Cubs want Cedeno to be the SS next year and A-Ram is out, possibly for the season, with a quad injury. So, why not just drop Nomar in at third if you want to get him some ABs instead of shifting the whole infield around to different positions that they have not really played all year. Walker has played 2B all year and Perez is really a middle infielder who has played a handful of innings at third over his career and is not necessarily a better solution than Nomar defensively. The Cubs are 8 games out of the wildcard and are done for all intents and purposes. Ramirez has been their best hitter the past month or so

Well, I think the Cubs are interested in having him back next year just not at SS. Hendry supposedly wants to see some of the younger guys (Pie, Mouton, and Cedeno) in the lineup next year. I have a feeling that they will try to re-sign him with the notion of moving him to 2B or maybe even the OF next year.

Well, if Nomar is willing to play at 3B for the rest of the season, I'd say he should do it. It'll give his fantasy value next season a boost having eligibility at another position.
I don't think he can handle the position in the long run, but he should be OK there for now.

If A-Ram were healthy I imagine he would be playing some at 2B for the rest of the season. I don't think he can handle third either. Second base seems to be the more logical transition for a guy like Nomar.

Nomar is a free agent at the end of the season and his big draw has always been his stick. He needs to get ABs whenever and wherever he can to show he can still be a valuable bat no matter where he plays on the field.
