Default Conference Pride on the line....

Is it wrong to root for top rivals when they clash outside their conference??

As a Big 10'er I routinely root for all Big Ten squads in OOC games and Bowl Games. *This does not include MSU, I'm sorry but I can't help it.

This week Big Ten pride is really put to the test. OSU vs. Texas, and PSU vs. ND head the list. Some of my pals break my stones for pulling for JoPa's boys and the Bucks. It doesn't mean I like OSU or PSU, I just want the Big Ten to regain it's rightful place atop College Football. We, as Michigan fans, will have our chance to ruin other teams seasons from our conference. I'd rather we did the deed than some Big 12 team or a frickin independant.

Go Blue!!

I have done it before. I have rooted for the hated Gators, as well as Auburn, against teams from outside the conference, especially during bowl season. Nothing wrong w/it.

I think rooting for your conference rivals when they don't play you is considered "regionalization bias."

Better clear that with brass in here...namely Kevin.

I always root for SEC teams when they're playing other conferences. I think it's to be expected.

Yea I'm with you guys, I'm a Big Ten fan when they go up against some of the other big conferences.

Wow. That's hard.

My conference has recently gone through major changes, admitting teams I don't care to root for (Cincinnati, in particular) or don't care about (USF). I root for Louisville against non-conference opponents, but against them if they're playing conference opponents. I only root for Pitt when they're playing Notre Dame, and then there are no guarantees, if ND is overhyped that year or whatever. I only root for Syracuse... when they play Pitt (or Va Tech). I want my conference to do well, but I don't actively root for them. I'm not pulling for Rutgers to beat anyone. And prior to their departure from the Big East, I rarely actively rooted for Va Tech and never actively wanted BC to win.

Now that BC, VT and Miami are all gone, I never feel bad about wanting their programs to erupt in an institution-crushing scandal...

I can't root for Big Ten teams, that's how much I don't like Michigan or Penn State. I would rather see them go 4-8 every year, and for us to destroy them. A lot of people like nail biter games, but I like how tonight vs. Texas was. First half had you entertained, the rest of the game let you chill with friends and relax. I normally root for teams that I semi-like for any reason, or for the underdogs.

I wasn't "chilling" or "relaxing" until about a minute and a half left in the game.
