This exact beauty just moved in next door to me. She's sexy, reminds me of my youth, and sings a sweet tune when you start her up. My wife says I can leave her for my new love if I want since I'm over there so much.

The old "muscle" cars.....Camaro, Firebird, Challenger. Horsepower was more important than gas mileage.

My neighbor gets 18 mpg cuz he takes great care of it. I'm almost positive the Firebird was the same. But yeah, daily use would really put a hole in your pocket.

Besides, I don't wanna let anyone see me cry.

But I agree with the pony cars vs the heavier muscle cars analogy. Of course I'm biased, I had a big block Chevelle SS.

Just a taste down memory lane tho...

Remember stopping to fill up at the gas station in Lake County, Ill that had the only pump that actually sold racing fuel for trips up to Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin & US 30 Drag Strip in Indiana.

I recall a station in Skokie, Illinois that sold 104 octane in the 80's. We filled my wife's car with it and got great mileage. Unleaded sold for $1.20 at the time and this stuff was about twice that, but the car ran great.
