If any of you want to judge your own predictions against some that have some evendiciary support behind them, check out

http://espn.go.com/mlb/spring2002/di...ojections.html

I was surprised that Padres finished so low, but we'll see... Their Mets reasoning make sence, and while I don't think they'll win the division, I think they'll do better than what Diamond Mind predicts...

I look forward to your comments ("you" being the usually cast of characters that post on here).

Every "expert" has their own opinion. That's why they are "experts". They have solid reasoning, but their predictions are no better than yours and mine.

I like Diamondmind projections, they go indepth. But there is a reason why they play the games. The best thing about their projections is they run the season through many times to get a more accurate result.

Oh, no question, "that is why they play the games." However to have this kind of statistical analysis is huge. Keep in mind they run the simulator 50 times and at least one thier outcomes is probabaly how the season will wind up. But to make their 'prediction' they take the aggregate totals... a very sound form or reasoning...

Do I think things will wind up like they say, well if you've been following my previews you'd know that I don't... That being said - their predictions and their reasoning are very educational.

I wish they would give player projections, their stats and stuff like that.

Very interesting article. I just can't go along with Oakland winning their division. Of course, if their starting pitchers do real well they may be dangerous.

"If" they're staring pitching do well? They only have the best rotation in baseball... No offense Keith, but with that theory, they should be a lock.

The question is can they score enough runs without Jason Giambi in their lineup.

I agree that they have the best starting pitching in baseball but if they have no run support they will lose close games.

I agree completely, that's just not what you said in your previous comment...

Either way, they'll be a team to watch. In my book, I think they're the second best team behind New York, maybe third, behind Boston as well...
