Yeesh, they should let him go or just keep him already. It's really not fair to Mr. Joseph at all.

In all fairness though, both Hasek and Legace appear to be day-to-day...so really, they have no choice.

 The Wings are making a real mess of this. Hey what about the Canucks last night. They had to goto UBC and get thier goalie to use as a backup.

Oh man that's for damn sure  This is such a screwed up situation and there's no end in sight.

I actually feel kinda bad for Cujo. He didn't put a gun to anyone's head for the huge contract... Detroit handed it to him, and then next thing you know they want get RID of the guy. Let them clean up (and pay for) the mess that they created.

Well Aebischer is having a great season for Colorado so far so they are out of the running. Not that they were ever in it.

My Rangers seem to be happy with Dunham as the starter and Markannen as the back up.

That leaves no one that would pay the ridiculous salary. Detroit put themselves in this hole and now they're paying for it. CuJo really doesn't deserve any of this. The guy has been a solid goalie throughout his career and now the Wings are throwing between Detroit and Grand Rapids on a regular basis. The only way they will ever trade him is if they pay for some of his salary. Otherwise they're stuck with him.

Wait a second here.

What's with the 'we want to get rid of him' stuff? Let's go back to when they originally signed CuJo, he would have got more money from any other team, so he signed LESS to go to Detroit for a chance to win the Stanley Cup. $8 Million a year was a bargain since Toronto offered around $11 million a year to re-sign him.

Now, everyone knows what happened when Dominik Hasek came back. Detroit had the option to either sign him up or let him test the FA market, where you know Colorado would pick him up. So they had absolutely no choice, and even if they did...would anyone pass up on the future hall of famer? Doubtful. So yeah, the Red Wings obviously want to move Joseph...but not because they want to, they have to. He's making way too much money sitting on the bench. Plus, everyone knows Joseph still has way too much talent right now to see his career rotting away. He is a character guy and I hope that he can get moved by the deadline.

I am sure if anyone else was in the same situation they'd do the exact same thing, so it doesn't surprise me.

Brian, no offense against the Wings, I know they were put in a tough spot. They did what they had to do. They are making the best of what has become a fascinating situation.

What burns me is when I go to other forums and I hear people saying they're glad to see Cujo getting jerked around up and down from the minors, it serves him right for turning his back on Toronto. Like it's his own fault he's in this mess. The guy's just out there trying to make a career for himself.

He's not the first (and won't be the last) guy to choose one team over another because he thinks he has a better chance at a cup. Detroit has signed more than a few veteran free agents based on what they thought was a good chance at the cup right? Why when it's Cujo he becomes a villian?

Toronto fans are idiots. And only idiots would re-sign there having already played there for a few years.

Heck we'd take Cujo in a second in Philly! But good ole Booby Clarke still thinks the Flyboys can win with their current keepers. I totally disagree!! The more Hackett plays the more weaknesses one can see in his game and Esche is really no more that a good backup!

With the CBA contract expiring next year and a salary cap more likely in the near future, teams will be much more hesitant to add more salary onto their team.

Not many teams will want to take the contract of Cujo's and only benefit for one year.

The only way I see Detroit getting rid of Cujo is by taking over half of his contract, similar to what the Penguins did with Martin Straka.

With that said, if Detroit is un-willing to do this, then you will see a continuation of Cujo being sent to the minors and back up again.

CuJo will be moved at or near the deadline. I don't see how the Wings can keep him any longer. It just doesn't make sense, and there's gotta be SOMEONE looking for a #1 keeper that time of year.

Hahahhahaa... Hasek is out for the year, now Joseph has reinjured his ankle, what he had surgery on pre-season.

I say the Wings get rid of both of these over-paid netminders and let Legace finally get his chance!

I think this situation is an absolutle joke, and by no means am I discrediting Kenny Holland and what he did. He went out and made sure if Hasek came back, it would be with no one but Detroit. Hasek came in, played well, and his groin gave out on him. It's unfortunate too because this is a guy that I have supported since 2001. This opens the door for CuJo, and I expect him to play well. No more dealing with garbage. It's funny, everyone tends to pick on Detroit's goaltending issues, yet every other team with the exception of New Jersey is also dealing with goaltending issues. It's league wide, not just in MoTown.

Hmmmmmm.... true dat. ...I'm just trying to think of anyother team with NO goaltending issues.... and, hahaha -- I cannot think of one for the life of me!!! ....wow, I guess Phoenix is settled with Boucher and Philly with Burke now.... but Burke is old and who knows how Boucher will hold up.... hmmmmm.... Belfour is injured off and on in Toronto... In Ottawa, the media likes to pick on Lalime but I think management is stickign with him... same in Vancouver... hmmmm... very good observation, Brian
