Default Kings/Magic Trade

To Sacramento:
SG: Cuttino Mobley
PF: Michael Bradley

To Orlando:
SG: Doug Christie

http://www.nba.com/magic/news/Magic_...28179-800.html

This is a good steal for the Kings. I have no idea why the Magic would do this trade, it doesn't make sense.

Yes it's official and it's a fair trade. The Kings are not 'stealing' this one. It's basically offense for defense. I think it's a good call for both teams. The Kings have been criticized for lacking defense and that's what I thought of first: why trade your all NBA Defensive team guy? Here's why: The Seattle Supersonics and the Phoenix Suns. Sacramento needs to get back to being a hot, scoring ballclub. With B. Jackson out indefinitely, I think this was a good move for Sacramento overall. Mobley averages almost triple the points that Christie avgs. but Sac will miss that defensive stopper. Should be interesting to see how these guys mesh with their new clubs.
Christie will be missed here in Sacramento, but that giving signals to his dominant wife crap will not. Christie has his merits, but his wife owns him.

Ownz him is more like it.

I think it's a better trade for Sac because Christie has never played well during the playoffs. And these two teams want to go deep into the playoffs. Bibby and Mobley as a backcourt during crunchtime of a playoff game sounds pretty good.

I love Doug. I have no idea why SAC would let him slide. In fact, I'm naming my fist born Doug.

The West is pure offense. The East contains the defensive squads. So this trade only amplifies that.

Sacramento is getting a fairly good 2-guard, but all of his numbers have been slightly less than his career averages with the exception of his on-coming three point shot (he ranks fourth in NBA in 3-pt. %). The bigger wave of this trade is how it will affect other Orlando players. Steve Francis is very upset that this trade went through, after spending six seasons with Cuttino Mobley in Houston/Orlando. Francis also averages 7 assists a game, another number that could fall in the wake of the trade. But Orlando felt they needed a defensive player after giving up the most points in the NBA this season.

This could be one of those boom or bust trades because it is so unpredictable how the players will play under their new teams.

My guess is they are tired of seeing Bobby Jackson going to the injured list for months at a time twice a season and need some more scoring off the bench.

How in the world is that true? Doug Christie is 34 years old and averaging 7 points a game. His game is going nowhere but downhill at this point. The Magic aren't going to win a championship anytime soon, so why do they need a 35 year old defensive stopper (who's still not as good as he once was) for a solid player in Mobley? Not only are the Magic doing that, but they just upset they're franchise player in the process, and are taking the gamble that Grant Hill will remain healthy, which the odds of that happening are very slim.

I agre 100% with Brian here. Christie is an aging role player, Mobley is a star in his prime, a guy who averages 16 ppg. Bone-head move, Magic. If you're going to trade a guy in his prime, at least get something comparable.

I think this looks like a fairly even trade. My only concen with Mobley is that he has been struggling with injuries for most of the season so far. Hopefully he can get healthy and provide the Kings with that scoring off the bench.

Huge steal for the Kings. The Magic traded Cuttino Mobley and Michael Bradley for a WNBA player.

The Kings may have come out on top in this trade, but it wasn't a 'steal'.

Doug is still close to the top of his game. He brings some MAD defense that does not show up on the stats sheets.

I like the trade overall, the Kings traded a little bit of extra defense for a lot of extra offense. It was a good trade for Sacramento, or at least better for Sacramento than for Orlando. Doug may have a hard time adapting, but I don't think Cuttino will.
