Default Favre to Return in 2005

http://www.jsonline.com/packer/news/mar05/308319.asp

Good news to say the least. Now the tricky part is piecing together a team that can compete in the NFC. The offensive line still needs two guards and with the expected release of Darren Sharper today, a nickel back, a defensive lineman and a safety are needed. The draft can probably solve at least one of these problems but it's going to take heck of a job managing the cap by the front office to ensure that Green Bay will be competitive.

Meh, all this really means is likely an 8-8/9-7 season maybe just slipping into the Wildcard as opposed to finishing towards the bottom of the league.

Ironic that the Pack's biggest needs are D-linemen and D-backs, considering this is where most of their top draft picks have gone over the past few years... thank goodness they've got a new GM.

Yes, Favre's sorta overrated. But he does lift the team's spirits, and i'm glad to have him back

Yeah, Favre is overrated he is only going to finish at least second all-time in attempts, completions, yards, and TD passes. With 24 more TD passes he will become only the second QB with 400 career TD passes.

Favre is not overrated he is just over-hyped.

The way the Pack are losing players, I wonder why he is bothering.

The Packers should be a favorite to win the division. Let us not forget that Randy Moss now wears silver and black. Ted Thompson is a smart man and will piece together a team that can compete in the NFC. If Favre didn't believe this couldn't compete, he would not be back.

Yeah, but being a favorite to win the NFC North and being a Super Bowl contender are pretty far apart these days. They won the division last year and got ran off their own field in the playoffs by the Vikes. I think pimpbot means why bother when they likely are not going to be a serious Super Bowl contender.

Well it certainly looks like Minnesota is making a tremendous effort to improve their defense for 2005 with the signing of Darren Sharper today. He struggled mightily last season but with a new team he'll likely step up his play

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2011382

I almost wish Favre would have retired, something tells me it's just time to start over. It's not so much losing Sharper but considering all of the losses that this team has suffered lately ad the fact that no additions had been made. The offense will remain mostly intact with only the guard spots empty at this point but the defense needs help everywhere. Things are starting to look bleak and it's only March.

Farve is the toughest SOB in the NFL. How can you even think he's overrated? Granted with all the Pack is in need of, losing him would have further extended the Packs woes.
