Default Cowher Turns Down Falcons

On the surface Cowher is pretty adamant about sitting out another year. But, is he just using it as an excuse not to go to ATL? Would he take the right job if it came along two months from now? One cannot blame him for not wanting to inherit that mess in Atlanta which is quickly becoming the worst run franchise in the league.

I don't blame him. I think there will be better positions available. Though ATL is fairly close to his NC home.

Cowher will stick to his guns and not return till next season. Unless the SD job comes open. He would Flourish there.

Yeah, I agree... unless ATL offered some SERIOUS cash... why would anyone want to go there other than for 1. Big money, or 2. a promotion? Any coach worth a damn knows to stay away form that death trap.

Yeah, but Carolina is even closer and there is increasing speculation that Richardson is about to clean house in Charlotte.

Really? You are going to use an article almost 4 months old to substantiate this? Honestly, the way coaches do things these days you really cannot believe 100% of what comes out of their mouths. A lot of these guys change their minds about as often as the wind changes direction. If the right situation comes along Cowher will be back in the league next year. He just is not going to bolt CBS to work for that disaster of a franchise.

I don't know about that DOUBLEE... He left a situation in Pittsburgh that was completely fine. And you're going to sit there and tell me that a vacancy is going to be available to a team that was just as well off as his 2006 Pittsburgh Steelers were? I don't think Cowher is going to put himself into a situation that is worse than what he left off with. Even if they throw large sums of money into the deal, I just don't see Cowher doing something that dumb.

Which is why he turned down ATL in the first place. He is likely not going to get a gig as good as he had it in Pittsburgh initially. I am not saying he is going to take a job with the first team that throws $6 or $7 mil his way. I am just saying that if there is a franchise he has an eye one and they make an offer he will probably take it.

And like I said before... Can you name a franchise that he may want to coach that will have an opening at that position? I don't think you can...

Carolina because of its proximity to Raleigh, San Diego if they pull the trigger on Norv after one year simply because they have the pieces to win they just need the right leadership in place. But, I think Norv is probably safe for the time being given the way he has rallied the troops here of late.

norv's fine... john fox is fine... the only place, logically, that i can see him heading to would be cincinatti. they have massive amounts of talent, but no hard-nosed leadership. cowher can give them that.
