Well said.

Just curious Running Man, where do you stand politically? If I remember correctly, you are neither conservative nor liberal. How would you describe your ideology?

Fresh, I have very high standards when it comes to honesty. I do not approve of fabrications or falsehoods for any reason. If you think Obama is anything new or different, that's your opinion. I doubt seriously if he is.
I am able to see the man behind the lies, however. I have met him and spoken to him. He seems to be caring and is willing to listen. This is something new and different as opposed to the last few people that have held the office.
I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that I have misjudged him a bit. I will be happy if I am wrong about him, as to be wrong in this case would be good for the country.
I do not hold out much hope for real change, however.

Let's say you work for the US military and you know where the US plans to attack an Al Qaeda stronghold.

You are captured and asked where the US plans to attack...

Do you "fabricate" in that circumstance?

I already told you. I think he is different in many ways, and typical in other ways.

Fresh, I have no problem withholding information from potential enemies. I suppose that is just what Obama did here.

Not necessarily.

I was just saying, sometimes using an innocent lie to achieve a greater good is necessary.

I just try to keep an open mind, even if that means supporting someone or something that I don't personally agree with as long as it is for the common good. I'd probably lean heavily to Libertarianism.

That's what I was thinking.

Innocent lie? Why lie to voters at all? Is he afraid that he would not have been elected if the voters knew the truth? Are voters potential enemies of his?
Sorry Fresh, to lie to voters is wrong in every case. Tell the truth and people will respect you more for doing so.
Again, I do not expect much from Obama, but I'm willing to give him a chance to show me that he is something better than I think he is. If he is better than I think he is, it will be a good thing for the country. I have very low expectations for his 4 year term in office.

Yes, and that's true for every president ever elected in this country.

They all have to lie about something.

Quote:

No, it's just that electing another republican president would have far greater costs than lying about his religion.

Electing the better candidate was more important than telling voters about his true "faith."

Well Fresh, This ends the talk about Obama being a "different" sort of candidate. He is nothing new at all. According to you, he is just another lying Democrat afraid that if the truth were to be known prior to the election, he would have been unelectable.
Sorry to be so blunt, but you have backed yourself into this corner.

LOL, I already told you he is a typical politician.

Typical in many ways, different in many ways.

It's really not that complicated Catman. Try to keep up.

I agree, Fresh. It is not complicated at all. Obama is, according to you, just another typical lying Democrat afraid of the voters.
No, it is not complicated and Obama is not different at all.
We are completely in agreement on this issue, Fresh.

Right, much like Larry Craig...

Except instead of lying about his sexuality, he is exagerating his faith...

Name one other president who lived in Indonesia during his childhood.

If you can't, then admit he is different in some ways.

No we aren't. I'm a thoughtful person who understands the complexity of individuals. You are a person who sees the world is absolutes.

Fresh, you are still attempting to deflect your statements that Obama is just another lying Democrat that is afraid of the voters. I'm agreeing with that statement. We are in complete agreement on this issue, whether you want to backtrack and tapdance away from your statement or not. You made it, stand by it.
It is not complicated at all. Obama is nothing better or worse than any other politician around today. I do not expect any change whatsoever in Washington. I have absolutely no expectations of this during Obama's 4 years in the white house.
Now, if I am wrong and Obama actually does do something, I will be pleasantly surprised.
As to bringing other politicians into your attempt to backtrack from your statements about Obama, fine. I do not need to be shown how bad he is.

Now that I have Fresh's statement to work from I will say that I hope to be surprised by Obama. I hope he can and will affect some change for the positive in Washington. I simply do not hold out much hope for such change at this time.
